|

So, I'm starting Bespin Leia and will update this thread as I go. I need opinions on fabric. I ordered several swatches of silk crepe de chine from Mood, and so glad I did -- they really look different in person!! I have pics below of them outdoors in natural sunlight, and indoors on my kitchen counter.
I definitely think the rust crepe de chine is the right pick for the tunic and pants, and rust chiffon for the interlining.
The tricky pick is the choice for the cloak. The standard says ecru, but that looks too pink here. I'm thinking either the tapioca or the ivory?
Opinions very much appreciated, as I plan to hand embroider the pattern and would like to know the fabric is right first! Thank you!

The rust is probably the best but it looks really red under indoor lighting- I think I used port crepe de chine from mood and was really happy with how it held its color under various lighting _________________

OK...so I've ordered the Spoonflower fabric that has the embroidery guides on it. I purchased some floss today and would like some opinions on colors -- I went for the six recommended shades as close as I could tell.
Here they are in natural light, using the Alinger costume book and my swatch of my tunic/pants fabric. Feedback before I start would be really helpful, if you think any of these are incorrect. (And the "dark burgundy" really is darker than the rust color in person -- the very bright natural light here does wash it out a little -- it's Vegas, which is pretty close to standing on the actual sun.
My other question...are there really two yellows, or does the lighter yellow come from shadow stitching with the darker yellow?
Thanks all...I really want to get this one right the first time if possible! _________________ "No one's ever really gone." |

Actually, my dark burgundy red is a little too purple now that I look at it...so will have to change that one. [/quote] _________________ "No one's ever really gone." |

I have a lighter dusty pink too (on the left) but I think it’s too light maybe?

It really does have two yellows, one of them very, very light and almost more of a cream color.
And I think the lighter pink might work better as I'm afraid the other will be too saturated for this. _________________

OK, I have already started some of the pink with the other, but not very much. Do you think this does look too saturated? I was going by the picture in the Original Trilogy costume book, and it looks fairly dark there.

And this pic...another person who has done it says the pink is in the middle below the first row of rosettes, and that looks pretty dark?
I wish there was a clear cut color guide for this.
