Following a comment I made on the Echo Base Facebook page, I was asked if I had any pictures or stories from the early days of Echo Base. I gave a decent number of images I had on my own Facebook account, but the majority of what I have still needs to be scanned. (They were on film kids Wink )

So I thought a hood place to start would be explaining who the old guy who keeps yelling "get off my lawn" is.

I am one of the original group of guys Tony Troxell turned to for help creating the Legion. At the time, I was extremely well versed in most of the Expanded Universe (remember, this was 98-99, there wasn't THAT much of it) and I was asked to help integrate it into the group.

When it went public, Tony was Legion Commander and Mollie became the first Base Commander for the Northeastern US (Maine to Maryland and out to the far boarders of NY and PA.

When Tony stepped down, Mollie became Legion Commander (at the time, command appointments were for "life") I volunteered to lead Echo Base. So, I submitted my Fleet Trooper for "official membership", 10 minutes later I was approved (LONG wait, I know lol) and 5 minutes later I was Echo Base CO.

I served as BCO for 3 years I believe, and kept recruiting and growing with the idea to get a few Firsts logged into the base. (All positive) the biggest being that we were the first Base in the Legion to "birth" another base by splitting it off.

There should be more remembrances and stories coming, and everyone can feel free to ask questions but keep in mind I won't get it Legion politics here. Smile everything is aimed at filling in the early years, the history of the base.

Thank you Ed for your quick response to my post on FB Very Happy

As the Legion and the base continues to grow and a new generation of fans join, we should always remind each other that we do this for fun. This is a hobby and we do it to have a great time and to also bring smiles to people young and old.

I myself would be interested to learn about our base's history and from our veteran members as I am always looking for ways to bring back that feeling members had from the early years of the Legion.
