Evil or Very Mad

Hello! This is my first Star Wars build- Danger Squadron Iden, aka Rebel Iden.
So far I have made:
    Traditional flight suit
Weathered grey shirt with rebel bird patch
Hero version leg flare, grey, per reference images.
    Weathered black fingerless leather gloves
    Black leather pouch
Belt rig with large back buckle
Modified ejection harness, and buckles, per character design
Drop boxes per standard trooper size

Upcoming is the leather harness and back rig for DIO, and the greeble on the harness. Regarding the harness: is it ideal not to add any extra components to the build, like grommets, to fasten the front pieces together? I wanted to use grommets (vs. stitching) as traditional, heavy harnesses do, but was wondering if I'd run into issues in submitting this build featuring a harness with grommets.

Looking good!

Unfortunately I can't really answer your question about grommets because I'm not really sure what that would be... But as long as it looks close to what's seen in-game it should be okay.

Thanks!

That's alright. They're little round metal studs that punch through two pieces of leather to keep them together.
I think i'm just going be safe and go with the stitching.

I love your build.
But I think the back pouch is far too big? What dimensions do you have?

Thank you!

I measured my pattern piece, and it's 19.05cm wide, and 15.24cm tall. This including 1.5875cm on all sides for seam allowance.
I think it looks too big because the flight suit is not folded over it, like how she wears it in the game. But, I did try to scale it to my body size since I am MUCH shorter than Janina is. hahahaha!
It will also be a little smaller once I put a closure on it (either a hook or a button on the inside so it won't be seen).

Update: Here is Iden's finished build:

Torso:

Full Body:

Right:

Left:

Back:

Front Detail:

Back Detail:

Bonus expression:

Reference Images

"Full Body"-

Harness and greeble- one long "pill shape cutout on right side, five rectangular cutouts on left.

Rebel logo patch size and placement-

Grey leg flare, matching Del-

Back buckle and pouch size reference-

"Ejection harness" reference- short grey straps that connect to belt (hang asymmetrically)-

Back shot-

I made my harness out of leather straps to match the look of Iden's. On Naboo, they appear to have the same luster look that leather has. When aged after the Jakku battle, they appear grey in some spots like worn leather. Also the strap thickness is closest to leather, and the fit of the harness in motion mirrors how leather behaves. When bent over or posed, a leather harness remains hugging the frame/ it's shape is not altered.

All my buckles are made from aluminum. I made sure to make and saw the openings exactly the same size as the respective strap it was going to be attached to.

I made her "ejection harness" straps per X-wing pilot standards- using 2" grey heavy polypropylene straps.

Grey drab/webbing used for leg flare holder, grey color per reference images, measurements per pilot standards... equal spacing, 4" cylinders, etc. I made my flares out of solid aluminum.

I am presently waiting for the weather to clear up so that I can get back to work on Dio!
