Really? How recently? Both of my helmets are from DI, I got the newest one about eight months ago, and it still has a tall mohawk.

Sounds worth getting one those instead. Is the price about the same?

Unless they've changed the price, DI is cheaper.

I'm almost finished putting our two DI helmets together. We received them in August (after ordering them in January). I could post up a pic or two if anybody wants to see what the put-together DI helmet looks like now.

The seller "Bobataff" has been banned from the RPF for being a recaster, I don't have any opinion one way or the other about his being accused of recasting, but some of you that were trying to get helmets may be affected by this action.
It is always sad to lose a source for inexpensive helmets.

I would not call it inexpensive. Compared to the other kits, Bobataff's kit lacked some important parts, and the quality of the pieces (at least of those that I received) was pretty bad. It was expensive for the level of quality that you would get.

Btw. Jimbo560/TK560 is planning on selling kits in the near future, based on his own new sculpt. I am looking forward to seeing images once it is ready.

I have decided to become a pilot.

What are the options for helmet sources? If it is against forum policy to post this, then please pm me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It all depends on how quick you want your helmet.

I placed a mass order with DI back in January with advance payment to ensure there would be an incentive to finish quickly...

I don't have the helmets yet Rolling Eyes

But the quality is seriously UP there with the best visor of all the makers, IMO.

Due to the problems in delivery, I'll be hesitant in the future for any more helmets from them until I hear they've cleared their production hurdle.

I ordered a helmet kit from Richie's a couple weeks ago and got it over the weekend, so it looks like his turn around time is pretty good right now.

DI is slow period. The helmets are held back according to them due to weather and it being a three man operation. However, my resin blaster kit from January has yet to show and I know pouring resin doesn't take a whole lot of time. Rolling Eyes

Very disappointed with DI's handling of orders...if you are backed up then stop taking the $$$ until you get caught up. I actually KNOW 1/2 of DI from another forum and that doesn't speed it up either. Neutral

I agree, plus thier bucket is a little big. Our local club [OCSWS] and our base [SUNRIDER] is ordering ours from Richies.

I have never had that long a wait from Richies any time I ordered from him.

Your mileage may vary... Mr. Green Quality is hit or miss I hear. (Thin plastic?)

That's good to know, since we are going to be doing a large order from him.
