Hi guys,

We have more info for you all. But first, a recap on the date and the plan...

Thurs 29 April 2010: people arrive in Norway (Oslo or Bergen most likely)
Fri 30 April: everyone travels to Finse
Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May: In Finse doing as yet unspecified things
Monday 3 May: everyone heads back to Oslo.

Travel to Finse is now confirmed as by train only.

Now for some specific information:

We got a little bit screwed over by the hotel because they didn't get back to Mads as promised as soon as the bookings were opened so some rooms are already taken. This means there are only 20 rooms. The week before and the week after are already booked so I think we’re better off sticking to our original date.

Having said that, we do have some price snow so it’s time to confirm if you want to go to Finse or not…

- Total cost for the hotel will be NOK 3890, or approx. USD $570 / EUR €440 / SEK 4840.
- This includes the room (Friday from 3:00pm to Monday 12:00pm), all meals; Breakfast, where you also make your own lunch (intended to be eaten outside, like on the glacier on Saturday), a three-course dinner every day, a two-course warm lunch on Sunday, and the rent for the conference room, with all commodities, also on Sunday.
- We get a discount on the train ticket when ordering from Finse Station.
- Payment to be made at checkout, no deposit required

As for booking, we have to book for the whole group, all 20 rooms. This probably sets the limit for the number of participants to 77 people. We think we can have 10 or so less people, but I don’t think there can be more than 77. This will be confirmed ASAP. We're also asking for a complete list of beds per room so that we can plan who can share what.

Just so you know, our interest list so far is at 67 people so there is not a lot of room left.

As I understand it we can cancel rooms up to the week before the event but if you book a room now then please let us know ASAP if you want to change your mind so that we can release your space for others.

So, what’s the next move?

I need a response to this thread ASAP with the following:
- Full name of everyone in your party (ie who you will travel with)
- If you are willing to share a room with people you might not know. In other words, if we have 4 people travelling alone can we lump them all into one room? Or will a group of 3 accept a fourth if needed?
- Are you willing to share with someone of the opposite sex?

The interest list from before is now no longer going to be updated. Instead I’ll be taking a list of people who say they want to come and provide the above info. First come, first served!

I do not have time to run around after everyone so if you do not provide all the information then I will just assume that you fit into whatever plans I make.

Wow, it’s starting to feel like this is a really going to happen.

Room 1: Andrew walker, Åsa Berglund Walker, Janne Sandin, Anneli Sandin

I edited the title of the thread, so that we can have the sign-up list here.

I confirm my continued interest.
* I will be traveling alone: Johan Hanson.
* I am ready to share room with people I have not met before, provided that there is no smoker in the party. (even if they smoke only outdoors).

Will there be a group booking of the train from Oslo?

I definitely still would love to come, but I can't say at this time if I will be able to afford going there.
Atm, I rather low on funds, especially since I'm paying to go to school. And because of that it's limited how much I can save for trips...

But if I can jump off if I find out that I can't afford it, then yes, please sign me up.

Name: Camilla Lilja Larsen
Travelling alone (though probably going to coordinate with other Danes Wink ), don't mind sharing a room Smile

We've posted an interest thread in the UK Base about the event and have two people who may be interested and are thinking about coming possibly. As you will appreciate, a lot of decisions will be based around finance in the present climate....

But what an awesome idea and experience!

As Jase mentioned above, myself and my boyfriend (Freddie) are both members of UK RL and are very interested in coming to this.

First, I have a question about the hotel price- is this the price for EACH person, or would it be split by the number of people sharing the room (so if there were 4 people sharing a room, it would be NOK 3890/4= NOK 972.50)

I hope that makes sense!

Hi Suzanne,

The price is per person NOT per room Sad However, that does include all your meals and also the rental of a conference room where we can show films etc. I know it's a lot and it's going to prevent a lto of peopel from coming but there is simply no other option. Finse has abuot 10 buildings and only one of them is a hotel so I guess they can set whatever prices they like.

Hmm, I bet it's run by Rebels Wink

I have heard that Norway is one of the most expensive countries in Europe. I think that is normal hotel rate over there.. Confused

Thank you for clarifying the hotel price- I thought it was likely to be per person, but wanted to check anyway.

OK, I would like confirm our interest:

* I would be travelling with my boyfriend: Suzanne Stelling (suzijedi) and Freddie Barnes (freddie).
* We are OK to share a room with people we have not met before, provided that there is no smoker in the party.
* Don't mind sharing a mixed sex room.

Obviously, if anything changes (due to the current economic climate or any other problems) I will let you know straight away.

Thanks

I am going to wait and see which other events are announced next year before confirming for definite whether we will come to this.

Jedi Con has just been announced at the start of April '10 and I want to also see if any Celebrations are announced.

Please just keep myself and Freddie on the 'interested' list and I will confirm at a later date. If having to wait means we lose our place on this trip, then that is fine, please let other people sign up.

Thanks
