Hi everyone! So I was wondering if anyone has done, and been approved with, the purple dress Padme wears in the episode Senate Spy (season 2 ep 4) of TCW? Here is a picture for reference

For some reason I've always loved this dress, maybe since I'm part of the weird group that loves those political banking clan episodes of the show haha. This is a build for down the road, but I wanted to know if anyone has made it for any pointers! Thanks Smile

I'm pretty sure that is a no. Smile You'd be the first if you do this.

Okay thanks! Luckily the dress seams to be the same style as her black fireside dress, but keeping it and the sleeves up will be a challenge without anyone else having done it haha

That's exactly what I thought and, having made that costume, I can tell you the Vogue pattern is a good base. I also saw a few winter coat patterns etc that the sleeves would be perfect for! I'll try and get that info to you soon. This was on my "To Do" list but it won't happen for awhile with other stuff happening. Would love to help you out!

Oh awesome that'd be great! I wont be starting this just yet though, most likely after we move and get settled. But when that happens I'll reach out for sure!

The magic of movie and animation ^^ I honestly don't see how it's possible. It's like Hera's goggles, they should fall if she wants to put them on her eyes XD

Except if you make it rigid with "wires" in the sides ?
Or maybe, I think at least some strapless bra have some kind of sticky silicone/rubber in them to help hold no ? I don't have any clue how those works, but could you use that maybe sew inside the gown ?

It's one of the many reasons I love/hate animated costumes! Haha. I plan to put boning into the sides to help hold it up, plus fashion tape (fancy double sided tape for clothes) on the sides when wearing and on the top to help. Also there are new bras that are made for backless dresses and are push ups to help keep everything up!

This will definitely be a work in progress, especially with trying to move across the country soon, but I'm getting plans made out so when I start I can just get going!

You will need some rigid, strong support along the edge for sure. Smile That dress will need to be fitted like a second skin.

Probably some combination of boning and lingere tape to hold it up. You also might be able to get away with a strap or two of that clear bra-strap material. I bet you could hide the shine of it by covering it with some powder foundation.

If you guys need it, I collected some more reference images here: http://www.senate.rebellegion.com/?portfolio=padme-amidala-clone-wars-backless-evening-gown

The clear strap might be something to look into, but only if absolutely needed since I've always hated those things for no real reason haha

Thanks! I've been meaning to re-watch the episode, but ended up starting from the beginning to just re-watch it all haha
