Hello all,
I am a currently researching this costume and I can't find a listing of the acceptable fabrics for the tunic and robe. Am I missing it somewhere? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks! _________________ =Bry=

If you are going for screen accuracy, the only place I found the correct material for the tunic, tabard, and obi was King Textiles in Toronto Canada. As for the robe - the movie costume was WWII army blankets but you will have to dye them since they don't normally come in the correct color.
See my posts in the tutorial sections for the entire costume.
Good luck. |

Thanks Paul. I am going for what will be acceptable. I don't need to be completely screen accurate.
Does anyone know if osnaberg, 100% cotton (unbleached) would work?
Here is the link to what it looks like. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ymRPqhmNEVhG6gAz7 _________________ =Bry=

I don't see why that wouldn't work. It appears to be the right color and it has a rough texture. To be sure you might contact a costume judge to get their opinion before spending anything on it. |

Thanks. I just sent a message to a gentleman who, I hope, can answer the question. _________________ =Bry=

The sample looks good Shadowscout but difficult to say definitively without seeing the final construction.
It doesn’t need to be totally screen accurate but needs to look like what we see in the movie. The texture and colour of the sample looks good so I would say it’s probably a decent choice.
Good luck with the build . _________________

Sounds like a go to me. Good luck on the construction. I have several tutorials out there on the entire costume. Since you are using a fabric that has a directional weave be sure the weave is going in the right direction for the Inner tunic, obi and tabard. Also, pay attention to the lapel fabric direction compared to the tunic itself. |
