Hello! So my costume is coming along and I'm about to start working on the belt and was wondering if anyone could chime in with an opinion:

What is an easy (ish) go-to method that some of you have used for cutting the metal plates?

Also, with the snaps at the back, the 8th plate has to cover them in order to be approved, correct?

Thanks so much!

I used a tin snip from the local hardware store. I just brought in a piece of the metal I was using and asked what would be best to cut it with. The store employees were very helpful.

Chiming in. You can get aluminum flashing very cheap at Home Depot or Lowe's. It's thin enough that you can cut it easily and trace the pattern for the pieces on it no problem.

I'm not sure about the 8th plate. I would double check the standards on that. I know mine does but I honestly don't remember if its required. Good luck on your build!

The plate over the snaps is optional. Smile

Thank you all! I have cut out all my plates, including the 8th one and I'll see how it fits over the snaps. Thanks for all the advice Smile
