Wow... the pants look completely blue! I guess is the light and the camera... but checking them online, it seems like a good match and finally something almost "cheap".

For the under/outer tunic I started to talk with Clothears Costumes, the pictures of them looks really amazing, although they are very expensive and I'm a bit afraid also in case of any import taxes to California, so I think it could be worthy to talk with theEmpiresNewClothes also and check. Also I want to go for the outer robe, I just love how it looks like in anyone using it, so maybe I can order all together.

Really helpful all your pictures and process. Specially for someone like me with absolutely no idea of sewing. Thanks for that!

To those following in at home, I did not actually end up applying yet - it's been a busy several months.

So, as I again approached the application process, I decided to spend a couple of days tea-dying my robe set before I take my photos.
Ever since I received my robes, I have always felt like they were a shade or two too bright.

While the lighting in the photos misrepresent the true coloring, I think you all will agree they look more worn - like how a maverick Jedi would look.

Here's a photo comparing the the pre-dyed cloth to dyed:

There was a great tutorial on the process at the following link but it looks like it was recently removed:
https://www.facebook.com/pg/thecostumemakersguidetothegalaxy/photos/?tab=album&album_id=896491407181944
But honestly any tea-dying tutorial will do - it's pretty easy and ridiculously cheap.

Anyway, all that's left is a photoshoot and clicking the sacred "Register" link.
I'll post some pictures of the final costume once I take them.

I agree; Qui-Gon should not be white but a slightly darker color. Smile

The fateful day has come... I have finally submitted my application.

And now, I must await discernment patiently.
Godspeed, judges!

So, obviously I had a small photoshoot to create a great profile photo and I felt like it was appropriate to post some of the best shots here:

And a homage to Luke's first instinct with a lightsaber:

I hope you can tell I had a lot of fun with this.
I tried to find the best Naboo swamp available on my planet.

Anyway, I would be overly idealistic if I closed off my Work In Progress with this post - I'm sure the judges will have me adjust something.
So, you'll hear from me again when the results come back.

Until then.

I think number two would make an excellent avatar for the forum. Smile

Though I hope you did make sure to have a plain background for the submission pictures so the LCJs and photoshoppers won't be pulling their hair again. Wink (Think of the poor photoshoppers when choosing your background for the roster image).

If you look closely, you can now see I was approved!
I'm quite surprised at how quickly they got back to me.

And yes, Lora, I had taken the application photos on a blank background, but I did submit number 2 as my roster photo - not realizing they needed to photoshop it - but they accepted it anyway!
Click on my profile to see for yourself - I even offered to resubmit a photo for them.

But I am excited to introduce myself as the Legion's newest formal Qui-Gon Jinn!
At least that's what they said in the email Razz

I honestly can't thank the Legion enough for their help in my project.
I may not have quoted any members directly, but I learned so much for everybody on the forum, especially all of the Qui-Gons.

Anyway, I've been assigned as a full member to Apollo Base of Ohio, so I hope to finally start trooping soon.

(I guess this is the end of the "Work In Progress".)

Congratulations. Very Happy Right now many bases are doing virtual troops, but hopefully regular trooping won't be too far away. Safety first though.
