Well my white cotton lycra has arrived (I scored 10m for $55 from Ebay Very Happy), so I should hopefully be able to start my Snowbunny soon! I'll be doing two layers of the lycra though I think.

So anyone doing this costume based on the Action Figure Picture? Yes, not the action figure as it has Bluish Cloak but the picture on the front packaging.

I had been trying to redo my Snow Bunny so it can finally qualify for RL Membership (or rather, addition to my costume list) but the Fake Fur Trim cost is putting me off completely (SGD17.95 per metre? That's like buying a whole yard of the cloth itself at the Cloth District here!).

But looking at the Action Figure picture, I wonder if I should just redo the whole costume. Ya, it looked like they just superimposed the Cloak & Gloves on the picture of her in the White Battlesuit but still, it's creating a varient for this costume. Shocked

Btw, I gotten the SS 12" Posable Doll on impluse on the final day of the Singapore Toy & Comic Con here in late June. It was "cheap" anyway and a friend volunteered to pay for it first. Now left to freed her from the box and use it to roughly guide me in redoing my costume....kinda Razz

I'm sort of tinkering with this one as well...watching prices on marabou boas and trim and such.

As I study the boots, they look like a wedge heel. (I'm having a bear of a time finding boots in my size - 5 or 5.5 wide, so I'm probably going to have to get a size 6 and just put in some sort of inserts to make it work.) In any case, I was looking at the boots linked below, and considered just replacing the trim.
They're patterned but I wasn't sure if that mattered?

OR these:

This pair has the large seam up the back of the boot.

Also - light blue trim or light/pale turquoise? Thanks!

I like the second pair better even though the heel on the first pair is more accurate. I say go with light ice blue, turquoise has too much green in it. I my first cape was a light turquoise and I hated the color Sad

Not to plug my own site but www.mjtrim.com (Item #16785 Light Blue), give me a call at 212-704-8077 if you want any Smile

Thanks for the tips! Smile I ordered a heavier/denser gram boa; I think it was a 75 gram, 10 yard piece.

More questions :~)
What materials did you all use for your capes?
Trim - attach by hand? And on the boots...?

I also was eyeing the full body unitard from Bal Togs, but was concerned about the see-throughness. I thought I could add some details for the front to simulate the zipper closure from chin to upper chest, but don't know for the life of me how to keep from it being too see-through.

I used polar fleece for my outer fabric, polyester satin for my lining, and attached the trim by hand. I used white quilters thread and stitched through the rope in the middle of the feather boa and caught the white polar fleece underneath. It is very secure too.

For the boots: I made an elastic band and hand stitched the feather trim to it and slid it over the boots. I didn't attach it because I use the boots for other costumes, but I'm probably going to buy boots just for my Snowbunny.

The Bal Togs unitard is see-through but nude or white undergarments/body suit will fix the problem. It does not wrinkle, very stretchable, and comfortable. If you wear it with another bodysuit, it can be warm too. The only thing is that the hood can be a little tight around the neck, but that bothers me anyway. The size charts are also correct, so you can order according to your actual measurements. Smile

I used 148cm Sapphire Low Pill Fleecy (White), a kind of Fleece(??) Baby Blanket-like fabric from Spotlight, for the Cape and have it lined in "Baby Blue" Polyester Silk Satin.

I understand some people used White Velvet but personally, I prefer it to be in some sort of cozy cozy kind of cloth like Fleece or Wool Blanket-like fabric. Razz

As for the Feather Boa, I hand sew it the afternoon before I have to wear it for ROTS Sneak Preview. Razz For me, I try to sew the whole thing down to the Cloak, mostly catching the Rope in the middle so it looked a bit messy. Embarassed

When I get round to get the Fake Fur Trim, will probably undo all the stitches and sew it folded into 2, sandwiched between the Right Side and Lining.

Ps: Here and there, I did spot this Bonded Micro Polar Fleece Fabric at Spotlight here but so far the closest color I found was Cream lined with Baby Blue. Make a cool quick cloak without the need to line it and if dun mind the Cream color instead of White.

GB - Check out my tutorial Smile I know quite a few Snow Bunnies have used it to make theirs.

http://imageevent.com/benaequee/costumes/completed/snowbunny

My trim is hand sewn on with a matching blue thread so it disappears into the feather trim Wink The first time it took my about 10 hours, but now I can do it in about 2-4 while sitting and watching TV Very Happy

Thanks for all the tips! I'll check out that tutorial after work today.

EDIT: Where/how did you get your blasters?

Well, that's a bummer! We have a family friend who's doing some other metal work for us...maybe I could speak with him. Do you have detail shots of your blaster and measurements?

Also...I got my boa, and I'm worried it's too blue. It's a "sky blue"...I'll post pics tonight after work. The edges are a nice, light/baby blue, but the center is quite a bit bluer.

I'm worried I don't have enough boa. I ordered 10 yards - I think I read somewhere in here that someone used 12 yards. I'm pretty short, so maybe I won't need as much on my cape.

Thanks again for all the input!

Nope, 10 yards should be more than enough, I only used 8 :-) I can try to take photos after dragon con if you want :-)
