Hi costume judges, I wasn't sure where to ask but I couldn't find any Chirrut costume guidelines even though I have noticed that a few members have been approved.

I wanted to start documenting some of the details of the costume as I am in the middle of my own build and I think we should have some standard to match for consistency.

I have spent a long time dissecting the costume and props in this thread.
http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81665

Here are my Chirrut Imwe Costume RL guidelines (proposed)

Costumer
- short black hair
- *optional white / blue fringe contact lenses (not required for medical reasons)
- *optional mild dirt makeup on face and hands

Right jacket
- dark blue cotton weave jacket
- wide opening 3/4 length sleeve
- diagonal right to left lapel on front and back
- lapel is hidden by the white bandolier
- left side closure via one fabric tie
- waist is tucked into the red underskirt

Suede short sleeve jacket
- slate blue suede or fake suede
- stitched with multiple tan detailed threads
- karate gi style collar
- padded left shoulder in blue suede / fake suede
- padded left bicep with 3 pronounced sections
- stitched left breast pocket with matching details
- features a horseshoe shaped greeblie attached to the left bicep via stitches at the ends
- bicep armband (horseshoe shape) is an almond color with weathering
- *optional: vest can be very lightly weathered

Inner shirt with left arm
- cotton or performance layer inner top
- collar is not visible
- left forearm is made of black vinyl / fake leather
- left forearm has 12-16 visible strips sewn in the same desaturated dark blue suede or fake suede as the vest, stitched with 3 rows of tan detailed threads
- outer forearm has loop velcro attached to mount impeller gauntlet
- Impeller gauntlet has a main portion with details, and an aluminum looking rod.
- hand guard has elastic straps around the thumb and wrist
- impeller gauntlet and hand guard parts are painted almond / red

White Baldric / bandolier
- bandolier is made of 3" wide sections and 2.25" wide narrow sections
- left shoulder features 3 sections of different lengths, with narrow sections sandwiched in between
- front of the bandolier connects to an angled kidney belt 2.25" wide
- it wraps around the left side and connects in the back to the over the shoulder portion
- the right front of the bandolier has a 7 slot ammo pouch with gunmetal ribbed tube greeblies inside
- the bandolier terminates on the right hip in a V shape
- underneath is the echo box (based off a Sankyo film camera). Echo box has a T shaped section above with 2 rectangular greeblies with slots, along with 2 small rectangular bars

Outer robe (worn on back)
- dark blue cotton fabric
- the shape is like 2 triangles sewn together with an angled top
- hangs over the rear of the white bandolier
- features 3 sets of long fabric ties to attach to the bandolier
- extends to ankle height

Red underskirt
- made from 5 sections of red cotton fabric with angled panels
- hangs just above ankle height
- there is a red belt which wraps around twice and terminates on the right hip
- the front of the skirt is worn left over right and features angled front openings

Outer Skirt
- a dark blue / black 2x2 basket weave style fabric
- hangs just above ankle height
- features 8 separate diagonal panels with darts
- long belt wraps and terminates on the right hip over a portion of the white bandolier

Brand new member here. I wanted to thank pandatrooper for his incredibly detailed work, and this very specific list of requirements.

I'm actually considering a Chirrut built for my first costume, but I haven't yet figured out what to do about the hair requirements. (I have long hair and a goatee. Shaving the goatee isn't a huge deal, but I'm not sure I want to cut off my actual hair, hehe)

Of course, if anyone has any advice in terms of wigs or whatever to emulate Donnie Yen's hair, I'm open to suggestions!

This is what I actually look like - Which I will admit, while Asian, isn't really very Donnie Yen....

Hi Raphael,

Wearing a wig over already long hair will be very tough and incredibly hot/uncomfortable.

I honestly think you can style your long hair to still fit the character (as if Chirrut let his hair grow out).

I'm one of the approved Chirruts. Great research you've done. How far along the build are you?

I edited the first post as I had one paragraph duplicated by mistake.

I've also finished my costume! See link in first post.

Panda trooper did an amazing job and I think his research could be used to finally form a standard for this costume. Detachment leaders, could we have a vote in the near future so we judges may at last have a standard for this one?

Thanks Jen!

I haven’t had the chance yet, but I will take some good photos for reference to add to my proposed costume guideline. Hopefully that helps with those attempting this costume.

I’d love to see these standards get finalized, both to make life easier for judging these and hopefully to get more applications! Any further thoughts on the standard proposal in this thread? How about those references images?
