one last thing that needs a bit of discussion is this on the helmet:

1. Helmet: Accurate Fleet Trooper helmet
• Can have white or black “visor”. Visor can also be dark smoke glass that can be put in the down position to cover wearers face.
• A comm pad on the helmet is required.
• An antenna is not required, but permitted.

I think that the "visor down" option should probably be removed. We don't get many that have a visor down ...but we have had a few.

I think that the Studio Creations helmet allows you to have the visor in an up OR down position as the visor is removable and can be worn either/or

I don't know about other helmets, but I don't think any of the regular RFT's had visors down....

Should the "vest can be standard as purchased" be fleshed out to indicate what that purchase should be? The black BDU shirt altered into a vest?

Ok....I am going to put up a vote thread in the regular RAID forums....
I am going to remove the smoked visor down from the helmet description as I really don't think it should be there...
and..

run it up the flagpole....
see who salutes...

ACK.... I might have seen this too late. I commented on the wrong thing, on the vote page apparently, so I'm removing it from there, pasting what I wanted to say here. If it's too late, then so be it...........

2. Shirt: Long-sleeve blue work shirt with bib in front (blue Chambray or blue Oxford recommended
• Bib should cover front of shirt with no gaps at the bottom).
• Shirt bib should come all the way up to the collar button and not sag.
• No button down collars (with visible button holes on collar).
• Colour range from a light blue to medium blue (costume can be denied if shirt colour is deemed too dark blue).

Minor thing here: "medium blue" might be misunderstood by some to mean like a regular blue (middle of the whole blue range), which would be too dark. I would just leave it as "light blue".

Same with the trousers: keep it "light gray". I recently submitted what I thought were light/medium gray trousers, and they were rejected (still need to redo them and submit, been busy!).

6. Belt and buckle
• Solid leather or vinyl – no holes or decorations.

Besides the rivet next to the buckle in front. Smile

5. Strip of 4 pockets along the bottom hem of the vest approx. 5″ tall

Are these on the back? If so, there should be 3 pockets, one wide center pocket with Velcro tab inside (no flap) and a smaller open pocket on each side.

I am of the opinion that the BDU vest should be phased out... grandfathered in for existing approved costumes, but new ones should be with all correct pockets. And if you're going to do the correct-looking vest, why not ALL the pockets, even the ones on the back? Those are the easiest ones to do on the vest anyway Smile

I did go back and change from 4 pockets to 3....you are correct in that ...it only looks like 4 because of the piece of Velcro.

With regard to the belt, a rivet is not really a decoration.....it is a functional attachment.

The pants....I left that alone as there are really 3 gray colors you can find BDU pants in.....light gray, medium gray and charcoal gray. The really light gray pants are starting to get difficult to find. We have been accepting medium gray because the color is not that far off. We do not accept the charcoal (dark) gray however....those have always been too dark. Sometimes when applicants submit their costumes for approval, the color shifts from photo to photo and the judges can't determine real color so often we ask for a photo taken in sunlight/natural light to try to get a better idea. Sometimes the pants will look charcoal colored in a photo taken indoors with no flash...and then when the applicant sends in a photo in sunlight...they look medium to light gray.

As far as the blue...the standard does state Chambray....Chambray fabric is a mixture of blue and white threads which renders a lighter look. I don't like to get too specific with blues because, again, photos can render things a totally different color than what they truly are. We would hope that people would do a little research on their costumes before making a purchase. There are plenty of RFT's that are approved and a generous amount of screen captures available to see and people should also look at that and not just a description from a list.

I just put three US Navy Exchange Seafarer brand shirts in the wash.

None of the three matched! They were all different colors, and all from the US Navy Exchange.
