Hello!
Has anyone attempted to recreate one of the Jihadi-style costumes worn by some of Saw Gerrera's guerrillas on Jedha?

These look like a relatively simple entry-level costume for beginners who want to become Legion members while working on a more complicated costume.

Help would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't envy the person who had to judge that costume.

I asked a similar question here. I think they'd be interesting to see done in the least. However I feel some people may see the costume itself as a little, 'politically questionable' for lack of a better term.

Personally working on one now though, just to see how it looks all together. Smile

There are a couple of Saws Militia that I think could pass muster and not be awkward.

The one with the Alderannian style helmet (Euwood Gor) and the couple with White ERT helmets with the Partisan logo on them.

Can we refer to them as Saw's Militia to coincide with the visual reference guide instead of 'Jedha Jihadi'?

'Jedha Jihadi' just sounds awful. And slightly racist, in my opinion anyway.

Well, it doesn't in my book.
Are we done picking nits and back on the topic?

I'm quite certain that the visual similarities to, let's say, the Cairo thugs from Raiders of the lost ark is not a coincidence.

What's cool about the terrorist cell is that it gives the costumer a wide variety of costumes to choose from: simple robes to more complex costumes.

The scene where Cassian and Jyn are being led through the Partisan Hideout has several great looking costumes. I'll try and find some screencaps, but one that stuck out was a RFT Helmet/robed combo.

Also, didn't mean to nitpick so apologies if I caused any annoyance.

Sorry if I lashed out at you.
I didn't mean to come across as confrontational.

But you're right, back to costuming! Wink

Since we're back on costuming, I'll refrain from commenting on the above conversation. Although I find it a really fascinating topic.

Anyway, I've thought about making one of these costumes as well. I've always loved the ERT helmet. From my research, though, these are definitely a predecessor to the helmet seen in ROTJ. Consider the following differences:

Most obvious is the back of the helmet.

I may be wrong about the top, but...

Lastly, the side. There is a cap over the earpiece instead of a foam insert. Also, and the arrows indicate, the back of the helmet goes all the way down to the bottom of the ear, rather than coming up as the plain flight caps of ROTJ did. Although I have seen some approved costumes and art where the ROTJ helmet has pleats all the way around.

Some great references!
It may be just me, bu does the Partisan helmet look thicker/chunkier towards he back? Almost like the Costume Base version of the donut which is heavily oversized. [/url]

I haven't seen any detailed screen reference for the back of the helmet, they may have royally jacked up the toy, its also not a toy of the Jedha variant.

Many of them have a red strip of fabric tied around the doughnut, Id say if that variant is used the back details may not matter because they would be covered.

I don't particularly think so.

As far as the red scarf, THANK. YOU. I've been looking for a photo of that guy since the movie came out. I think it's a super cool concept that the ERT helmet was not just for rebels, but a more widely used/sold piece of gear.

I guess you could get by with a regular ROTJ ERT helmet, but only if you had the scarf wrap. I do think the helmet is different though, as shown by this image from the gilette commercial:

and this one:

It is definitely more oval it seems, than the ERT helmet.

There are probably better images from the movie, but I don't have access to it at the current juncture.

Still very much interested in getting this costume made up. Mostly because I live in South Australia so a desert themed trooper costume would be great. Smile

What sort of steps would need to be taken in order to get some basic requirements/standards done up?
