Hi all, wanted to start a thread so I can keep it updated as I go along. My name is Aaron Darling and I am located down near Corpus Christi TX. Looking to make a wookiee, not sure if I want to go generic route or not. Been researching on and off for a while now but just recently decided to commit to it. My wife is on board as long as I agree to actually finish it so I'm in it for the long haul. Looking to get either the high stepper or a pair of stilts here soon and start from the feet up. Been a 501st Legion member for about a year and a half and looking to branch out into the rebel side. Built a few stormtroopers and have the pieces for a tusken sitting at home, but I think I want to make a wookiee my next costume. _________________ Aaron Darling

Welcome!!
Sounds like you have plenty of things to iron out before you start since you need to decide on foot set up, which wookiee type and if generic, what colors/pattern? It can be mentally draining so make sure you start each day with a proper breakfast till it's in cruise control
Seriously, it is a lump of choices and it can be a challenge. If you have any questions feel free to ask away!! _________________ =================

Thanks, I've been looking thru the different canon wookiees and am leaning towards Lachichuk. There are a couple other Ep. III wookiees that I know a few hours from me so I'm already utlizing their knowledge and help. As I dont want to spend the outrageous price for the skylwalker stilts, I am planning on ordering the high stepper buckets this week. I've already been talking to Jamie and she has already sent me the modification pdf for them. I have read thru the first 4 pages of this forum and am absorbing everything I can from others builds. I would prefer to make as minimal mistakes as posible _________________ Aaron Darling

Awesome thanks for the tip. Just received the tracking for the high steppers today so hopefully once they're here I can get to modifying them. _________________ Aaron Darling

Welcome Aaron,
Have any questions rations feel free to ask. Sounds like you are on the right track. Have fun with it. It will be a lot of work and you
May feel like you not getting anywhere with the hair. But it will come. Do you know how tall you want to be? That will help with how big to make your feet

I'm think 7'4"-7'6". If I don't cut the high stepper down at all, I think I'll be right at 7'3"+whatever the mask come out to _________________ Aaron Darling

Okay could use some help figuring out the colors of hair I should use for Lachicuk.
The light is different in several of the shots so I'm not sure which colors I should go with.
THanks in advance.

Just received my mesh and costume Gorilla gloves last night. Ordered 12 yards of the mesh to be on the safe side. I plan on chopping the fingers off the gorilla gloves and attaching them onto regular gloves to make my fingers appear longer. _________________ Aaron Darling

So worked on modifying the stilts this weekend with some help from some of my friends. We worked on these while we were at an armor party fixing some of our 501st costumes and helping new recruits.
I will still need to modify for the stilt bump, and add non slip padding to the bottom, but they are a lot easier to walk in with the calf supports added.[/img] _________________ Aaron Darling

So what type of should pads does everyone use? Whats your favorite brand?
UPDATE: end up winning a pair of shoulder pads on ebay that I had gone to look at this weekend, but didnt want to spend $100 on. _________________ Aaron Darling

Got these ordered today. Hopefully they work well.
Still waiting on some strapping to come in that I ordered to replace the velcro straps on the high steppers. Once that's done I'll be adding non slip mat to the bottom and start sewing my mesh suit. _________________ Aaron Darling
