I have started working on replicating General Merrick's X-wing pilot costume.

I am currently sewing the flight suit. I found some satin polyester in a dark blue colour with a slight teal hue. For the sleeve detail, I decided to go with a heavier fabric that still has a slight sheen - but not as much as the main suit. I found a beige stretch twill.

Here are some progress pics pictured with my ANH Biggs flak vest and commpad.

Thanks for looking:

wow that looks just like the flight-suit from the film! Where did you find that material? I've been trying to figure out what these new flight-suits are made of for Blue-Squadron

That's looking very nice. Good job! The only thing I notice is that the arm pleats might be a little wide, the movie suits seem to have them a little thinner (and a little puffy, I think?). But that's all that came to my mind.

The flak vest, though... The side buckles are different on the Rogue One vests. The RO vests have black plastic slides instead of the purse clips. The commpad also looks different in RO.

I don't know the manufacturer of the fabric. It's something I found at my local fabric store.

Right now I am only working on the flight suit. The OT vest and pad are just in the pic for size reference. I do plan on making a more accurate vest and pad too.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm in the process of redoing the sleeve pleating in a different fabric and with more pleats. Stand by for new photos...

The old pleats were 1" wide. These are 0.6"

I had a jacket with the ribbed sleeves made in black leather recently:

Visually, I think they got it dead on. Does this help with the spacing?

I think we have the same measurement of 0.6" or 1.7 cm

Looks great! Hey I sent you a PM I'm trying to do some research for darth_hair & sithchick.... since they are both so busy I'm doing the pre-lim on this one. We have been looking for this fabric forever so if you could give us any idea where you bought it it would be great. It's a great community and I like that we work together

One thing i did notice in this picture...

The stitching down the front mid panel is just top stitching. If you blow this up..you can see there is no overlay of fabric.

IDK if that matters...just an observation.

Great eye! I thought it was a separate panel.

I'm onto the legs now. Has anyone worked out all the various pockets?
