Since this is the costume I wish to be approved in the legion for, I'd like to introduce a little of myself here before I begin my problem statement. I'm a Mechanical Engineering graduate student on a journey to make a screen accurate Han Solo belt buckle which isn't metal.

I say not metal because I don't have experience with metal hence I draft and 3D print my parts. I built a buckle before for Celebration but it wasn't to my liking. Also, I did not have input from other Han Solo Cosplayers.

My method is simple; I used a pattern from a member of the RPF and then drafted the design using Solidworks. After, I 3D printed the parts and then put a few coats of XTC 3D, sand and then paint the pieces using stainless steel spray paint.

I'm currently working on 2.0 and would love your input and share with you my journey. My second draft will use metal pigment in the XTC so that the color is more robust.

Here are my progress shots of the ESB buckles. I would love your input. Once the parts are done, I will post pictures of the 3D printed product.

With Todd no longer providing a way for costumers to get access to the hardware, I welcome a project like this.

I've done some more improvements to the buckles. I'm pretty content on these so they will be ready for printing. Thoughts?
