Hello! Im beginning a new RFT build for the Great Lakes Base. I'm sorted on most items, but had a few questions. Does anyone have recommendations for a belt and boots? The boots I use with my Jedi would be too tall.

I appreciate all suggestions!

I know the lower buckle has to be removed for approval. Is it pretty easy to cut off?

Those Bundeswehr (West German) jackboots are the best... I need to find a good pair soon and upgrade from my cheap costume boots. Good height, and they have that nice sturdy, round toe. And smooth leather.

Equivalent enlisted East German jackboots are usually pebble-grained, and probably should be cut down unless you blouse your trousers over them more. (Possibly moot, as its hard to find EG jackboots these days.... the WWII reenactors snapped them up years ago!)

BTW, fun facts: "Knobelbecher" means "dice-shakers", just a slang term for these tall marching boots, or "jackboots". They called them "dice-shakers" because of the clicking sound that the old hobnails would make when they marched on paved surfaces... Hobnails being the polygonal-headed steel nails that provided traction and helped keep the leather soles from wear.

Nick,

Easy to trim. I used scissors and a exacto . Just take your time with it.

Thanks so much. I'll be looking into picking those boots up after I check a few local stores. I've gotten the pants sorted.

I have the "vest", though it still has sleeves. I'm working on removing the sleeves and collar. I've already removed the buttons.

I have the helmet and blaster purchased and will hopefully have them arriving within the month.

Oddly enough I'm having the most trouble finding a good looking blue shirt. The ones I've found just dont seem to look right. I may just be chasing perfection.

They aren't required, but does anyone have any ideas for extra RFT props? I'm thinking about making a comlink or rank badge just for fun.

Blaster just came in. Might modify it slightly but it looks awesome.

Helmet is now in. Just working on the shirt, belt, and the accessories.
