So I've been sitting on this project since I was initially approved back in April 2012... The major hold up for me was the embroidery. (Who isn't put off by the embroidery!?) Now that Leah D'Andrea has made the patterned fabric available on Spoonflower and my husband now has his ESB Han... It's time to resume this project!!
Here's the fabric for the tunic/pants. Also the thread picked out as well as the heavy #32 braid from Kreinik for the trim. http://imgur.com/qkEtDgf
I picked out sheer curtains way back when I was going to do the embroidery by hand. Here's the curtain over the fabric from Leah. http://imgur.com/aM5w2om. I think it shows through beautifully!
I went ahead and picked up lining today for the tunic/pants. http://imgur.com/0qJcZC7
These are the shoes I went with. The ribbons will be removed and I will have them dyed locally.

I keep trying to take photos in different lights and the fabric is turning out more wine red than it is to the naked eye. So it's definitely a tricky color to pin down, especially for photography. I think it's a beautifully perfect burgundy/wine shade to the eye, but photographs show it looking different. I was looking for a lining fabric that would hopefully bring out more of the 'rust' that we see in some reference photos. I wound up picking out lining that went close to the fabric color and took the 'stretch' into factor.
I'm disappointed this costume was not on display at the Denver Art Museum during their hosting of Star Wars and the Power of Costume.. but.. it is what it is! I don't think this one has traveled on exhibit in a few years.
For the tunic, I have the Butterick 6831 view B pattern. The Padawan's Guide and Fit for a Queen have been amazing resource sites for reference photos and construction assistance.
My aim is to FINALLY have this costume together by Denver ComicCon at the tail end of June into July! _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

Looks like you have all you need to make this happen. I very much look forward to seeing how it turns out as it is a personal favorite of mine.
Psst! How does the length of the embroidery match up with your height? _________________

The pattern seems to match up fine with my height! I'll see more when I get the yoke/collar drafted and mocked up. _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

TEENSY setback but no biggie, I started pinning the lining to the patterned fabric for the cloak only to see.... the lining is like an inch too narrow to fully cover the last flower. I thought the sheer curtain I picked up would be wide enough to accomplish this.
Whups.
WELL THEN. Off to the fabric store with me. Ohnoes, what a hardship that is! _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

So the curtain panel that I got for the lining was a tad too narrow to cover the flowers at one end of the cloak. I can sew in another strip of fabric, but I highly doubt this will pass approval.

I bought a length of replacement fabric for the lining, but I don't like it as much as the original I picked up. (Color, feel, weight)
Can I get a ruling? _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

Can you hide the seams under the arms? It would be a natural place to have seams and they wouldn't be very noticeable with all the folded fabric there. _________________

Probably!
I will just go ahead with the organza I picked up yesterday morning so that we'll just have the three main seams attaching the lining to the patterned fabric.
To be honest... I think having more seams than that would drive me nuts as it wouldn't look right. LOL _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

Ha! That is the problem with making replicas; you want it to be just right or it will annoy the hell out of you.
Too bad you didn't have enough fabric to do it without the seams. _________________

Indeed!
It is a shame, for a curtain, it's luxurious feeling! _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

The replacement lining has been sewn to the patterned fabric for the cloak.
I'm going to work with the padding, lining and exterior fabrics for the yoke/collar, to make sure the colors look good before sewing them together. Sometimes the padding changes the look of the off-white fabric.
I'm now waiting on my pants pattern to come in. I went with a recommendation on Padawan's Guide and ordered the discontinued Butterick 6200 Genie pattern from eBay. The cuffs will be modified slightly to make them fitted.
My shoes have been dropped off locally for dyeing!
I took a little time out this past weekend for an armor party and got a little work done on my Boushh helmet. http://imgur.com/a/VOFDK _________________ Alpha 75 - "No Instructions? No problem!"

I've ordered samples of the Spoonflowers Princess of the Clouds to examine, as I've wanted to make this one for some time myself. Going to attempt this one to wear around next year.
Good luck! _________________ One mean, green-eyed fitch. |

The spoonflower fabric is gorgeous. Get the poly crepe de chine so the pattern prints fully across the width. I'm 5'6" so it's just about perfect for my height. There's plenty of room on me to hem and tailor this to ankle length.
Thank you!! So far tunic and pants are straightforward, but I have sewing machine that's hating me. I'm either getting this done on my machine or someone else's!

The shoes look wonderful. For a thin fabric you may need to use a stabilizer when sewing it. Some machines hate sewing in thin fabrics. _________________
