Hello all,
Getting pretty close to completing my chewie build. Lots of great info here.
Commissioned a mask from Evil Chimp with the moving mouth, it’s stunning.

Working on the feet now. Bought a couple Walmart plastic trash can for 2$ each. Filled them with industrial expanding foam. Bolted a wood platform to the top and can mount any shoe to them, secured with wood screws and a little gorilla tape.
Then shaped seat foam, spray painted and now in the process of adding fur to the tops of the feet, netting from the bottom of the show to the top of the feet and latch hooking the hair on.

Used the DIY 4 button sound board video for the Chewbacca sounds with an aker, sounds are incredible, easy to do, only cost about 50 bucks. 4 micro switches hidden in a glove.

Suit is coming along nicely and will post pics of that. Hoping to be done by the end of the month and submit pics.

Nice. I'm from the Portland/Vancouver area myself, though I've lived in Nashville for almost 20 years now. Trooped a few times with the bases up there on visits with family.

please practice walking. Looking at that design, it makes me worry that you will hurt yourself by twisting an ankle or falling from not being stable.

Actually, I started with the stilts, got quite good at walking with them, even could run and walk backwards. The problem was bending over to interact with kids could make me lose balance. This set up is actually really light, and extremely stable. Easy to walk in and can stand easily for hours.

Seems like a pantsless chewie shot is pretty standard. Here it is. Suit is coming along great. Another couple weeks. Used black plastic spoons for toenails. Need to fix the color on the feet fur, lay it down too.

I filled the buckets with expanding construction foam. Very strong and light.

I try using the foam, but the foam just expanded outside the bucket and didnt stay inside. I will try it again this week.

It is a construction expandable foam, harder than the stuff in cans. Make sure you bolt the foot shaped wood platform before using the foam..

I was debating buying a mask or making one. What was your deciding point?

I saw Evil Chimps mask. Extremely reasonable price for for the quality of the mask. And latch hooking was going to take a ton of time anyway.
