Do most sabers have removable blades, or is it standard practice to have a separate hilt for non-blade cosplay?
I'm hoping I can get one with a detachable blade, perhaps Kyberlight _________________ Have you ever danced with the krayt dragon in the pale moonlight? |

Most custom saber shops such as saber forge, Ultrasaber and Kyberlight offer removable blades on their sabers. _________________ "I'm no Jedi. Just a guy with a Lightsaber, and a few questions." -Kyle Katarn

the ones with fixed blades are the hasbro and master replicas "force FX" -- hasbro made a few with removable blades..but not too many.
(vader, luke, maul.. obi-wan&anakin(I think).. and that's about it)
the fan-made custom sabers all have removable blades

for me, my standard practice is to have both: a belt-hanger hilt, and a fixed blade force-fx.
this is what I submitted with my luke ESB costume
(but to be fair -- the belt-hanger is technically an ANH model;
the blade is ESB -- so this costume was accepted on the strength of the ESB saber alone)
it's not required to have both.
you can be accepted with a bladed saber (or hilt only) -- either way is fine -- the glowing blade is 'allowed but not required' _________________
