|
|
|
Hi all!
I found this listing on Etsy for a commission for the Parade Gown. Before I decide to order or not, I wanted to check with this great knowledge base about the approvability of this gown.
Here is the listing.
I know right off the bat that the sleeves of the gown are the wrong fabric (but I'm hoping the seller will adjust those for me) and that the finial spoke tips on the edge of the umbrella are missing (but I figure I can make those on my own). Anything else that would prevent it from being approvable? _________________

Those are both good catches. I am not a judge, but to my eyes it looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the coloring outside the lines on the tabbard, though.
The biggest question will be the final fit on you, and that isn't something you can know until you get it. _________________

Yeah, those two are definitely things to be aware off, but the fabric on the parasol also looks too thick and it's too round; it should be more oval in shape.
But in general it looks very nice, so seeing as this is listed as a commission piece; if you can get the sleeves and parasol made in another fabric, you will be very close to a done costume. I'd just ask if the shape of the parasol can be change, too, so you'll only have to worry about the tips on it and the fit.
(And personally I'd like an invisible stitch for hemming the bottom of the dress, but it's not a deal breaker, just my preference). _________________

Hi there! So I agree with everything said so far, definitely see about changing the sleeve fabric and a thinner material for the parasol. I’d also say to see about getting a silkier/shinier fabric for the dress as well. The fabric looks a bit too thick, but I don’t believe would be a deal break if they won’t. It’s very well made from the looks so a great find if they work with you _________________
