It is my thought at this time that there is likely to be a LOT more reference coming out of the release of Rogue One with regard to the character that appears to be a Rebel Fleet Trooper...
and..
along with better images etc that we will likely be getting from Rogue One
then
I would be of the opinion that the "new" vest should probably be required for RFT's from that movie.

just my 2 credits..

I tend to agree that the Rogue One vest probably does have all the accouterments seen in the prop store piece but I dont ever remember seeing them in the OT. That pic clearly shows the straps

Other than the right chest, most of the pockets appear to be essentially non-functional. Just a square of fabric.

That vest was shown in Prop Store of London's booth at Celebration Europe 3 in London in July. I took some pictures but the auction pictures are better.

I was suprised at what this auction piece shows, but it confirms research that has been done before that didn't have enough data to be conclusive.

The Sideshow Collectible figure, Gentle Giant Bust, and Force Unleashed II Rebel Troopers have similar pockets to this auction piece. We were discussing these sources when the RFT standards were updated in 2013, and Studio Creations discovered many of these pockets in analysis of the DVD.

Now we finally have the actual artifact that shows these toys and video games were indeed based off of a screen-used prop.

Studio Creations had put a lot of effort into researching the costumes that were on display at the time. The photos posted to their site or even better than the HD grabs on websites.

But what we see on the propstore site is how the vest definitly should look like.

These 2 vests are screen used vests.

Ofc it is annoying that everyone has a wrong vest at the moment.

But shouldnt we be happy to see the real vest finally?

After 40 years...

I wanted to start a rft this year and i am happy that i can make the vest as accurate as possible now.

It is amazing that almost 40 years later...
we are still discovering things about the costume...

I am not particularly annoyed.
We worked with what we had for over a decade...
it was a "best guess"
and until this vest came up at the Prop Store, we still had no good images to go by....
there were "suggestions" of this and that...but nothing as clear as what we have now.

And...
let's face it....what we had "worked"
and still does...
the general public at events really didn't know the difference...

Will I try to make the new vest?
yes...

Will I toss out my old ones?
No...as my old vest still matches the other RFT's in my Base..

Wink
