I think it looks better this way, too. And it's no big effort i guess.

And it's closer to the original vest. There, the pockets are close to the edge, too.

I have possibly seen one with a magazine, but it was on RPF a while back.

I have never seen anyone with an ANH kit having a DH-17 with a magazine.

I don't even know if anyone produces a DH-17 with a magazine, at all.

I see. I will search for that just for interest. :-)

I got my helmet and the vest yesterday.

I did some test fitting with the back pocket. Is the size ok?

I used the sleeve. But you will see the sewing line because the sleeves are made of two parts. Whould the sewing line be a big problem?

For me, a pocket with sewing line would be still better than no pocket. :-)

originally i used my sleeve, too, and took it apart there, using the fabric opposite the felled seam for the pocket. Looking at the "new" pics of the trooper vest, your position is correct. On the "new" vest there is a felled seam (or bias tape seam for those of us that dont want to make a felled seam) and the pocket sits just below that.

the front pockets are about one human thumb width away from he edge of the pockets, but on he mannequin the edges of the vest either close, overlap or come closer together than how you have yours. if you have not sewn it yet you can relax that out a little and it will show less blue bib when worn.

yeah, i thought the same about the overlapping. but then, i was pretty sure that the mannquin is just very thin. In as good as every scene in the movie, you can see as much blue as you can see on me. and i wanted to recreate this effect by cutting of some of the fabric.

even here (for Force Unleashed II) they did the same:

i didnt sew it so far and i will have that one human thumb width away from the edge of the pockets. :-)

i hope this is ok then?

things should be fine as long as there's images to support how its laid out.

I think all of these vests were mass produced in a hurry, giving some difference in how they appear--with what little we can see of them.

the helmets are certainly a mishmash--we even see Yavin Techs with swoops but no visors attached.

Got my weapon this weekend. :-)

Also got an other shirt in the correct colour now (after the first one had a darker blue than on the photo).

The blaster looks really nice. Could you take a photo of the belt and holster in natural light (outdoors)?

I will try tomorrow. Today it's dark outside already.

But what is wrong with the belt's/holster's colour?

Here is a comparison with a dark brown holster:

And there you can see it in an overall shot.

As you can see, the first pic is just a little darker (i tried it with the iphone light there, but it makes pictures darker instead of brighter)

The sleeves of my shirt i will cut at the blue line and sew at the blue dotted line.

the sleeve will look so much better with it sewed poodoo the way you plan to do.

the final photo of the holster and belt look better than the first. the chocolate brown apperance of the first photos would have been outside the " canyon tan to range tan" color.

Where did you find that shirt?
I'm having trouble finding the US Navy ones in XL and yours looks like a nice dress shirt. It's hard to tell exactly what hue of blue is correct.

I think it needs to be muted down a bit. I wore the Navy chambray shirts (old school Navy here), they were much lighter in color. Not so bold.
