Hi i need some help from my fellow snipers. I really like the idea of a sniper, but i have been turned off by the commando and snow troopers. I like the desert and forest ideas. Is there a basic uniform that snipers need to follow? The basic premise of snipers is to blend into his or her surroundings.

I am in the moment building a sniper rifle modeled after the springfield bolt action.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

We do not have any snipers, in the classical ghillie suit approach.

The closest you will get is what is seen in the Battlefront video game.

That said, if you want to build a non-canon sniper rifle for non-canon troops, go for it.

I made a scout carbine for my snow scout, that I can upconvert to longer sniper rifle. But it will never be canon.

I am hopping for canon uniform. Maybe the battlefront and the new movie(s) will give me a better menu.

Thanks william.

Hiya,

Sorry to necro my past post.

I finally got a toy sniper rifle: https://www.amazon.com/UKARMS-Marksman-Sniper-Spring-Airsoft/dp/B072LQ4277/ref=sr_1_3?s=paintball&ie=UTF8&qid=1529691445&sr=1-3&keywords=Toy+sniper+rifle&dpID=31iOLMfpEwL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I just need to modify it to qualify for RAID standards. I really would like to make a sniper costume, but the details are vague.

Help me RAID admins your my only hope?

You could check out the specialist class troopers from Battlefront 2. Here's a thread with a lot of details or Rebel troopers from the game: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=90727.

You might be able to modify the airsoft rifle to an IQA-11 from Battlefront 2.

Thanks. These are cool suggestions.

Until these are made final by the costume judges and membership. I am going to put this side project on hold.

As far as I know, I hope a costume judge will correct me if I am wrong, you do not need a CS to get a costume approved. You just need enough reference screencaps that show all sides of the costume. Of course, it would be great if the first person that creates a new costume would help create a CS for said costume. Kievan Mereel (Sam Coulson) already collected quite a few screencaps on the Battlefront 2 costumes. If there is a view missing anybody with the game could help. You could also watch a playthrough on youtube. That is what I am doing right now for the battlefront 1 RFTs.

What are CS?

As far as finding snipers in the sw universe. I found a reference to Rebel Marksman: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rebel_Marksman/Legends

I don't have access the game. I can't get proper 3D character rotation to see a decent costume.

Again, i would like to see a graphic diagram of marksman and other specialists. I am a visual person. Smile

The letters CS are the abbreviation for costume standard(s). The 501st Legion calls dem CRLs.

If you already know which rebel sniper you want to create or which ones you would like to take a closer look at before deciding, you could post it here. Perhaps another member has the images that you need or knows where to find them.

I took a look at your references. The second sniper from the top is a Hoth Trooper (Hoth Trench Trooper) from the EA Battlefront game and the last one at the bottom is a Desert Trooper from the same game. The Desert Trooper already has a CS. The fourth sniper from the top that looks similar to a Endor Trooper looks like he could be from one of the original Battlefront games.

I have been searching the Internet for the rebel snippers from the Endor DLC of game "The Force Unleashed 2" and the old "Battlefront" games. I only found front views and the graphics are too bad to be of any real use. I think the Rodian sniper that wear Endor gear from EA battlefront looks pretty good. The back should be identical with the regular Endor troopers.

Hi patricia,

Thanks for the reference photos.

I think my sniper is an all weather sniper. Character: Col. Ryongkai. He normally pack light with minimum equipment. He uses his his xwing or awing to fly into target areas. Since i have limited funds, i might try the soft pack and belts.

I might need to see the battle front game to see what kind of equipment that the rebel alliance and new republic have available. Since he is a specialized trooper, i might have some flexability.

I'm all for Original Characters, but I'm quite sure you'll find out that with the exception of a few diehard fans nobody will recognize what your costume is supposed to represent.
I've been trooping as a Rogue One SpecForce Trooper for a while now and even while it's part of Star Wars canon, the costume is too unknown.

Still, enjoy the build.

Glad to see my EA/DICE Battlefront II thread referenced. Here are direct links to the four new sniper costumes, ranging from simple to elaborate:

Rebel Desert Specialist

Resistance Specialist

Rebel Yavin Specialist

Rebel Fleet Specialist
