So for a long time ive been trying to make a design for a helmet for my (prospective) costume. Its hard to replicate what a prop maker in the 70s with 70s ideas of science fiction, and inspiration from vietnam flight helmets might make! (as well as making it personal)

I came up with a few pretty designs i think though and I want your guys help and opinion on if any of them are any good! do any of these look like they belong in the Death Star attack sequence?

Any of those would work and I think they look pretty good. The second one is a little trippy but I have to admit that it's a neat design and I kind of like it. Would be interesting on a helmet to say the least, but it seems like it would be really difficult to paint.

The first one is probably the most "Star Warsy" out of all of them but it looks good, too. The fourth is probably my least favorite. But I have to say, the second is my favorite. Razz

Hey thanks much for your input!! And from a costume judge, perfect lol ^.^

Im really happy you like the second design, it was my favorite too (with a pattern inspired by the legendary Hop David's orbital mechanics coloring book, and in my favorite color purple!) But yea itd be hard to paint that design even with circle stencils..is there a place that makes custom decals? i am the furthest from an expert possible

alternatively i was thinking of doing Gold Leader, cause with my hair tied up and without makeup i do look a bit like him (i am not very pretty >.<) shouldnt waste that resemblance right? haha

I'm sure there are places where you can print custom decals. I don't know where or how much they would cost but you could probably Google it. You could also print out your own decals... I use Testors waterslide decals on my helmets. You just use your computer printer to print the decals onto the decal paper, let the ink dry well and hit them with a coat of decal bonder to set the ink. I usually let them dry for a day or two just to be on the safe side, then just cut them out, dip them in water until they slide off the paper backing, and carefully place them on the helmet. Let them dry and there you go.

If you want to do a face character that would be fine as well. It's all up to you! Smile

But hey, don't knock your looks. I'm sure you're just fine! Smile
