Hello. I am rather new to costuming and wigs and I need help with Padme's red invasion gown hair. The only wig I have ever done was Toph Bei Fong's hair and that tutorial seemed pretty easy, but when I search up tutorials on Padme I either get pictures of a before and after with no instructions or a really complicated instruction guide. I have had two attempts already and honestly they both failed. The first attempt was that I tried using the only you tube guide I can find but with my hair attempt I noticed that the hair base was just way too weak to use foam and it just fell apart. I then tried using some pipe tubing which looks like a pool noodle (but I don't think it's as stiff). It seemed like the idea would work because somebody used a pool tube to make a wig, but the issue for me was keeping the tube down and in shape. It kept going back to it's original straight shape. Anyways it would be a real big help if somebody were to give me some tips on what should I do and what materials I should use. Thanks in advance. Also here's a picture of the hair for reference.

Not that I know what I'm talking about, cause I don't, but would maybe using spray glue on the rounded base hold a nice layer of hair in place help? You can wrap another thin layer of hair over it for a more natural look. Though, I don't know how you'd hold that down too.

EDIT: Another thought, I'm betting a craft store would have smaller sheets of bendable chicken wire-like material that you could flex and bend into shape. If the holes are around pencil size or smaller, you could, potentially, tie off the hair inside your conical/rounded shaped piece. That would solve a few problems.

Padme headpieces are no joke- but while I haven't seen Naergi around these parts in a while, she wrote up a pretty detailed tutorial on how she did hers:

Hope that helps!

Well yes, still there ;-)
The Red Invasion headdress seriously doesn't require a wig, unless your own hair color is totally different from what you want the hair on the headdress to be. My own hair, for example, is red; the hair I'm using on the headdress will be red as well - just because my own, natural hair IS almost 35 inches long and I don't see any point why I shouldn't use that for at least the ponytail.
If you don't have hair that long, you can use a clip-on ponytail - the "hair roll" on the headdress is not connected to the "natural hair", it's just an attachment to the "metal base cap".
The "roll" can best be done with a very stable base (you could carve one from styrofoam, for example, and reinforce that with wires and epoxy resin).
Said base should then be covered with felt which is just a tad darker than the hair you're planning to use to cover it. After that, just take very long strands of artificial hair and wrap them around the base, glueing them in place while you do so.
