Sounds like an interesting costume!

The gaiters... The material hasn't been identified yet. It's really hard to tell what they're made out of. Some say they're cloth but they don't look like cloth to me, the texture is too smooth (there's no weave in the material) and the material is too thick. Plus, without interfacing cloth would be too loose and wouldn't crease the way the gaiters do in pictures. They kind of look like leather to me but the color doesn't look right for leather... I use vinyl for my gaiters, I have vinyl that had the right texture (though the color isn't perfect) and it creases correctly... But who knows?

The gaiters are pretty easy to make, though. Just take one piece of the gaiter material, fold one crease slightly off center to make one rib, put a little bit of space, then make another fold facing in toward the other (the folds should face each other). The folds stay in place with one stitch down each. The gaiters go together with a seam in the back center. The strap is made of the same material and has a square stitch in the front center. I always sew the ends of the strap into the rear same of the gaiters but you can leave them outside if you want, in a deleted scene that shows troopers running around with gaiters it shows that the straps were done in all sorts of ways, some of the gaiters aren't even sewn evenly... It looks like the gaiters were tossed together pretty quickly. There's a 1" black buckle off toward the outside of the front ribs that are sewn on by a short piece of black webbing.

I purchased my mask today, got the overalls (and extra set) on order and got my boots.

Need to make my gaiters and belt, now.

The Wampa Wear pilot gloves would be perfect. That's what I have as well as many other pilots. Smile

Got 2 Coveralls today. 1 to wear and 1 for parts.

It has a pocket but looks like I may need to alter it a bit to make one of them have a top.

Got some work to do still, need buckles on my gaiters, fix arm pocket, add correct collar tab (possibly round them) and add belt.

I got a chestbox for trooping with later on..(have to put all that together still) just wanted to get a test fit in..

Nice job. Looking good.

FYI, the collar tab isn't rounded, it's squared. It's a rectangle. Smile

Yep, the collar tab is rectangle, but noticed in one of the Nien pics his actual collar was rounded. (not sure if it was just the puppet version or not).

You post two different links on coveralls - which ones did you actually buy?

Did you get the mask from Ray in Spain?

Have you been approved by Rebel Legion yet? :-)
