Hello! Smile I hope this is the right area for this post. If not, please let me know where it goes (the props and costumes selling area, maybe?)

I'm an old RL member attempting to return after a few years of inactivity. However, my current ANH gown is not RL approved, as it has some seams in places they shouldn't be, and due to a chaotic life and lots of moving around, I've been unable to find anyone to make a new 'approved' version for me. I cannot sew or create because of medical reasons, so I spend lots of money for other talented, able people to make things for me. With the new information out on the construction of Leia's classic gown, I'd like it to be as accurate as possible, right down to the type of fabric, and I have no problem paying an arm and a leg for it to look perfect.

I'm wondering if any of you lovely ladies knows of people open for commissions for this particular costume? I'm not satisfied with the ones I've found on eBay (save for one, but it was a fiasco trying to purchase it) or Etsy. I do have an appropriate belt and boots. Smile

Any help would be appreciated! I've reached out to my FaceBook community so I'll see if I get any ideas there, but I figured I'd go right to the pros here. Again, if this is in the wrong area, please scold me. <3

The only advise I can give you is to find someone local so you can do fittings during the process. I wish you the best of luck with finding a seamstress.

Lora is right : the fitting during process is very important.
Otherwise, I would have love to offer my helo, but I'm from France :/
I wish you the best anyway ;-)

Lauren,

I've got one half done that Beret and I never finished when we determined that the sleeves were too short for her. Are you still in WI?

I purchased my first gown from a woman on eBay and was a loyal customer for many years, but the last one I ordered I never received and she's ignored all my attempts to communicate about it. Was so disappointed! Lost a lot of money there.

Unfortunately no, I'm in north Florida now. =( I know fittings are important. Although with this gown, I suppose you can get away with just very precise measurements? I'm not sure.
Missing the Wisconsin/Illinois group, by the way!

The hardest part is hemming the sleeves and bottom hem to the correct length which can be a challenge at long distance.
