This was an event for inventors, professional and amateur, adults and kids. Vendors displayed their creations. Some were practical and hi-tech. Others were extremely low-tech or semi-useless (but really cool to look at). This was a Jawa's paradise. Along with the Maker Faire, we were given access to the Pittsburgh Childrens' Museum (which was next to it, and was in partnership with the Faire).
There was a bit of confusion at first about where to park and where to change. They were gracious enough to let us use a board room, and we go free parking. They also had plenty of water and some snacks. We were treated very well. The event coordinator and the head of the Childrens' Museum were very excited to see us.
We posed for a lot of pictures and were able to cause some (good-natured) mischief.
There were not many available Rebel Legion members, so the event coordinator allowed 501st members. Having armor on fit with the nature of the event, too.
The weather could not have been nicer. Cloudless skies, temperatures in the 60's to low-70's, and a nice breeze.
Attendees:
Gina Platzer - Jawa (First RL Troop EVER)
Jim Platzer - Snowtrooper
Bryce Platzer - Jawa (Future RL member)
Matt Schraeder - Biker Scout |

This was a great first troop for me as a jawa. It was a jawas paradise! Bryce and I had so much fun going around and looking at all the robotics and technology. As Matt said, I was the only Ghost Base member there. I think this event needs to become one that more of our members go to. Even though there was only 4 of us, we were a huge hit! Tons of kids (and adults) who loved seeing us.
I was also very surprised to see how big this event was. I hope we get to do this event again! |
