There many things I see that need to be addressed but people get to butt hurt when things are brought up. Maybe just PM's. I don't know. This is why I stopped participating on the boards. To many people twisting words. It makes it tough to share info that could help. Any suggestions how to make it easier?

I'm not seeing the butthurt in this thread, just some good natured disagreement so far?

I agree people can get tense over this stuff, but if we're all just PMing Jamie then each of us is only seeing our own contributions and not the aggregate. I think that might make her decisions on the standards seem more unilateral than they really are?

Maybe we should discuss it and come up with a list of popular options for things like gloves, articulating jaw, etc, and then take a poll? Online polls can be problematic too, though, for a variety of reasons.

I know the recent vote on the Jedi standards was chaotic for sure.

Ultimately it's Jamie's call, obviously.

This thread is specifically to discuss those issues. As long as we are all respectful of each other and aware that everyone has a right to their own opinions, I hope that everyone feels they can speak open and honestly. We can vote if it comes down to it, of course Smile

Yeah. Seems pretty relaxed and peaceful to me. Generally speaking the Wooks are pretty easy going.

So is this for looking at just a few items or should we look at everything as a whole?
How about head to toe. Maybe a likes/dislikes list and then go from there. I do feel there needs to be a revamp of the standards for Chewie.
I'm in the beginning stages of building a new costume.

It seems like Matt's format is a pretty good one for commenting on the standard as a whole as it exists right now. Quote the relevant bits, insert comments. It's readable and easy to follow, or at least I think so.

If there's something not part of the spec that you think should be in there, I guess that's a discussion of its own?

What do you mean by overhaul? If you mean comprehensively changing the entire thing, you'd probably have to write your own version for everybody to get on the same page with you.

This is only my two cents, obviously. Smile

Updates made based on suggestions. I think for now we need to keep the option open for a static mouth, just in case people have issues (it's a tough piece to get right). And as far as the gloves, I think for non-face characters and classic Chewie, gloves can be optional so long as your hands are completely covered in fur. Sound like a fair compromise?

Sounds good to me too. Technically my mask has a working mouth but so far I haven't figured out how to connect it to my chin so it will actually move when I move my chin. I plan on redoing the underskull this summer sometime to hopefully fix the problem, but that might not happen. So far I think everyone has good ideas.

For the OT/ROTS Chewbacca, Would it be a good idea to include approximate bandolier box sizes (length, width, height), stating placed in alternate fashion with some specified distance between them?

The CRL says Metal boxes, did we want to keep to metal boxes since some people use resin boxes? Would it be a bad idea to include language that also allows for boxes, made of resin that resembles metal? I'd think the one thing that we might want to avoid is boxes that are plastic or rubber that just doesn't have the same look, IE: Rubies

Also, I think it was Matt's idea (could be wrong), but I totally love having a CRL that is similar to the 501st in terms of layout and clarity. Its so much easier to read and follow each part step by step. The CRL includes pictures that give a visual reference to each part.

Yes, Cory, I'd like to add the sizes, materials, and number of boxes to the CRL. And I'll add photos as soon as I get a spare minute. Feel free to post some up if you have them Smile

While we are on the subject, I was always curious what this meant:

Formal Requirements: For formal status, you must be at least 7 feet tall while in costume. Lifts, stilts, and other height-enhancing footwear can achieve this.

Is there any other type of status or approval other than formal and should this just be included in the requirement for certain wookiees... meaning wookiees like Gungi who are obviously smaller should have a vast difference in height requirement.

On the flip side, do we really need wookiees that are so tall that it becomes a circus vargas performer... meaning, should there be a limit as to how tall a wookiee can be?

Approximate measurements for the bandolier are a good idea, but a couple of things to keep in mind about the bandolier:
1) it is more important for the bandolier to look proportionally correct with the rest is the costume than to have screen accurate measurements.
2) All three of the original trilogy bandoliers use the Hammond die cast aluminium boxes for the small box. Because of this, the exact measurements of the rest of the OT bandoliers are known.
3) The measurements for the RotS bandolier are not precisely known, since there is nothing to use as a frame of reference.
4) the RotS bandoliers are allegedly made of rubber, which is not surprising given how many "leather"props were actually resin or rubber.

Standards should always refrain from requiring specific materials, instead describing how they should look or what they appear to be made of.
