I was wondering if anyone else saw this rare costume on display at Celebration. I'm surprised no one posted about this here yet. There are no details about it in the new Star Wars Costumes book either.
Possible changes to the Standards might be in order.

Somewhere at C7, there was a short video about the dress. It might have been at the OT costume panel or posted later to the Prop Store Facebook page, but I cannot find it.
What I remember is that the dress had been given to someone and used as a Halloween costume. It was found in their attic and had been heavily stained, including a big wine stain. All that had to be repaired. |

From what I heard, one of the panels (from Saturday, I think) spoke about this dress. _________________ "You like me because I'm a scoundrel."

I still have to upload my photos. I've been very busy every since Celebration.
One main thing of note - the dress is made of a white silk jersy knit. It was lined with something that looked sort of like a typical lining fabric which may not have had any stretch to it (hard to say if it was a silk lining - that's my first guess but for all I know it could have been synthetic).
In addition to having been stained, the person who wore it ripped the seams open that are under the sides of the bust so that had to be repaired.
I think once people start seeing our photos surface, they will see what the different seam lines are for constructing the dress, and that some edges of the cape sleeves were not hemmed, but some edges had a rolled hem.
The belt was unusual too, the back had elastic and a large gap! I have no idea why it was not constructed with snaps like Leia's other belts. _________________ Base Webmaster
