|

For those pilots who have a gunbelt and carry a Luke/Han/Mauser style blaster:
I made one of these for myself this year before Star Wars Weekends and it was a real life saver compared to trooping with 4 pounds of metal prop hanging off my belt. It was constructed from an airsoft Mauser with cast resin scope and flash hider. I cast the parts in black resin so no white resin shows through when the paints rubs off. The airsoft gun full size, but its mostly plastic, so the weight difference is amazing compared to the commonly-used metal Denix Mauser. It also still shoots the airsoft BBs! (not that I recommend doing this at events!!)
After getting several inquiries, I was thinking of making up some of these for interested RL'ers. The cost would be somewhere around $60 plus shipping.
I'd like to know if anyone would be interested, or if I'm wasting energy thinking about it!
I'll post some pics of mine soon.

Its a great idea. Its exactly what I use to troop in my pilot. Its also nice because you can shoot a few stormtroopers too!! _________________ What's the matter Col. Sanders? Chicken?! |

That'd be neat.
Hmm... I wonder how hard it would be for me to rig it up with an LED light inside, and a sound box that makes a blaster shot sound? That'd be wicked, with or without the BB-shooting ability (which I, personally, would probably never fire anyway). _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

That's a neat idea- The airsoft gun comes apart pretty easily by removing the screws- there should be plenty of room for adding electronics (perhaps even with the sound from a Hasbro or Rubies blaster!).

Yeah, I'll just have to figure out how to do it. Me not being very tech savvy or anything... But hey, maybe I'll learn something. XD _________________ B-wing Pilot - Jedi - Resistance X-wing Pilot - Temmin "Snap" Wexley

I used bondo to fill the screw holes in the side of the blaster to make it look a bit more real.
If you want to carry a sidearm, the airsoft is the way to go. It is much more accurate and looks way better than the hasbro blaster. Several people have thought that mine was a real mauser. I'll try to post a pic of mine sometime. _________________ What's the matter Col. Sanders? Chicken?! |

There's not a lot of room in side these guns. Putting an LED inside one is certainly doable, I've done it to my metal airsoft.
Sound is not impossible, but it's extremely difficult, especially for someone who is admittedly not very tech savvy. I'm sure there are more, but I only know of 2 people who have done it, and they both have an extensive backgrounds in electronics.
They both had to put a battery pack in the grip and the sound board and speaker where the magazine goes.
I'm not trying to dissuade you from trying it, with some research, learning, trial and error and determination, you may succeed.
But it's not a project I would advocate for a novice who has no experience in this kind of prop building/modification.
I'm just trying to give you a realistic point of view. _________________

I'd be most interested. Could you flip the scope to the other side for a lefty version, or would the parts fit all wonky? _________________ The Jedi are pacifists, except in times of war. Teachers, except when it comes to telling students the Truth. |

Tempting! I like how it actually fires!
Been trying to find someone who makes an E-11 that shoots airsoft BBs. |

I'm sure there's a way to do it. It would require a new bracket (reversed), but that shouldn't be too hard.
