Hey all,

New to costuming, kind of torn between X-Wing Pilot and Tie Pilot, think I need some convincing, haha. Seriously though looking at all the pictures on here of people all decked out is exciting and cool. Always wanted to join a costuming group that does events locally.

A bit about me, my name is Alex, I'm a 26 year old Army Vet, going to school later this year. Huge Star Wars fanboy.

I can't make anything more than a sockpuppet with googly eyes so I'm pretty sure I'll be buying all of my gear... lol. Any help to point me in the right direction of acquiring X-Wing pilot gear is helpful too. I've seen the For Sale forum and have inquired about helmets and how they fit (I have a big head I've been told). Anyone have any advice on where to start?

Welcome Alex. I'm in Niagara Falls as well. We have a few local pilots that I'm sure would be willing to help you out.

Welcome to the Canadian Base Alex!

Most of the items required for x-wing pilots are available in the "Star Wars Costume & Prop Sale Forum" section.
A lot of info can also be found in the Rebel Pilots forum: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=632

Would be great to have another Xwing pilot in the Base. I hope you will consider a canon pilot rather than a custom paint job. There are some great pilots in the films that aren't represented yet.

If you need suggestions for vendors of pilot parts, send me a PM.

True story though, many pilot outfits like A-Wing or B-Wing you can pick up the caps, gloves, and other pieces from army surplus stores, jumpsuits from hardware store and only really need to get the chest box and visor made, unless you do X-Wing then need to get a full helmet kit. I learned this at Celebration this year cause I got a friend trying to be a B-Wing pilot.

Hope it works out for you, cheers!

Hey guys!

Was away for a bit, IRL stuff (relationship breakup) but on the up side, I did very well in the stock market and am about to splurge on an x-wing get up Razz

trying to find some suppliers of the stuff I need, I think a HERO helm is where i'll start! anyone know the size on those things? I have a pretty large dome of 24 inches.

Also would like to do a Tycho Celchu, trying to find some costume references.

Tycho would be great to see. Gives Wes someone to joke with when Jek isn't around!

I'm in St Catharines if you need help or advice.

Yeah you're super close! I'm trying to find out what the back of Tycho's helmet looks like, if I can't find anything should I just wing it? The front of his helmet I have, the rebel logo with the flames on top, but theres nothing on the back of it.

You'd have to check the comics and see, but each artist probably varied it anyway.

The helmet isn't mandatory, and as Tycho is a "legends" character now, any helmet would do, and just be a pilot like most of the gang.

I'm still alive! Will be pulling the trigger on a Snap Wexley or Blue Squadron build.

Where are the events located at that the RL are invited to? Is that a members only thing? I only ask because I'd like to be active with troops and I realize that most of the RL troops are 501st invites after the fact, being an ex-501st member myself.
