The only downside to the boots is that they have a 2 inch heel, while the guidelines call for only 1 to 1 1/2 inch heels. Hopefully that won't be a problem when I'm ready to submit the costume.

height of heel is difficult to determine in photos..so...all one can do is send in the application when you are ready...and cross your fingers..

Posting again because I have just under a month to finish everything. I wore the boots for about 5 hours this morning, including walking to my oldest son's bus stop and back and they are a lot more comfortable than when I first tired them on.

Belt leather has been ordered and is being shipped directly to Phyllis, and I found someone who has the food capsules at a reasonable price.

That just leaves all of the sewing work. I have Anime Central in just over a week that I have to get ready for because I have a table in the Artist Alley, but once that is done I can focus on my sewing until my outfit is complete.

If I make certain to have absolutely every picture that is required and then some, approximately how long does it take to be approved?

I prefer the smaller buckle on the bottom.

I have been working on the belt...

this week I have been mainly dying - it needed a few coats and I let the dye dry a day between coats...

the buckle is just laying on the top....

I still have to dye the piece that covers the belt in the back over the fastener.....

and then...
the whole thing gets a sealer...

and then assembly...

ok...so I am going along slowly...

I was thinking of adding Sam Brown rivets...
I had a few (a lot fewer than I thought I had) of those rivets and experimented around on a scrap piece of leather...

The fact of the matter is where those ball rivets are certainly decorative...
and
certainly they were used on many Jedi belts in the movie...
I find them impractical....

For one...they do not really hold that narrow belt in place....I used some leather adhesive to adhere the narrow belt in place in conjunction with the ball rivets...that would at least keep them in place...

but...
they are still impractical imho because they stick out and interfere with placement of some of the other items on the belt...

So far, I did get the front buckle attached...the rivet used goes through not only the thin belt but the wide belt as well so that the buckle will not go anywhere...

I also like to use industrial Velcro as a fastener (then covered with the sleeve) for the back of the belt because I just find it so much more adjustable and less of a hassle than snaps...

When it comes to Jedi costumes, where some bells and whistles are nice....I really have always preferred the more functional and practical ...

It looks fantastic so far! Thank you! I think the color will match perfectly with my boots.

I just finished the convention I had an artist table at, so now I can focus on sewing my outfit. Lots to do in a short amount of time!

I will have this done by the weekend...I was not able to get any work done on it the past couple of days because of other commitments...
I am trying not to rush the process and so I need to put aside a larger block of time than I have had available lately...

But I should be finished by the weekend for sure...

I understand that quality work takes time. I'm still sewing, so I'm not even ready to take pictures yet.

With your pattern that you shared at the costume party last fall, is that written to have shoulder tucks? I cut out all of the main pieces in muslin after sizing up the pattern to fit me and basted together a mock up. I have to shorten the torso slightly, but so far it fits perfectly other than the shoulders. I might even be able to use the mockup as the lining in my final outfit.

When using that pattern, I do put in shoulder tucks as the shoulders on the pattern are a little wide for me anyway..so it works out perfectly for me...
and I generally cut the sleeves a little longer too just to make sure they are long enough when I get the tuck sewn in...

at least shoulder tucks are optional for generic Jedi...
so..
if it works..
put them in...

if it don't work...
leave them out...

I tried on the mock up tonight with Ryan's help and I discovered that I do not care for shoulder tucks. So we marked where I will cut down the width of the shoulders, and with any luck I will be able to take apart the mock up and cut the pieces out of the good fabric tomorrow and maybe sew the entire OT over the weekend.

The belt arrived yesterday and is great! It might be slightly big, but I only had normal street clothes on, not the multiple layers I'll have with the full outfit.

I finally got up the nerve to cut into the osnaburg fabric, and if all goes well I might be able to submit for membership just in time for Joliet. The guy making the food capsules hasn't gotten back to me, so it looks like I will have the robe, inner tunic, and pouches as my 3 optional for Formal status.
