Yes it is! I believe that JJ. made a post on twitter confirming it.

Looks like the flight suit survived, but everything else has changes - Vest is now a jacket(?) with a big padded collar, Helmet looks different (shorter, visor bulge over the forehead looks more like a separate piece), no leg flares, hard to tell about the boots except legs go over not tucked in.

Looks like a similar helmet, but with no mohawk. Round, domed details at the ears?

The flack vest looks the same, but they seem to have added a tight white vest underneath (because the flack vest seems to float on top), with a white collar like the Hoth jackets had. Or is the collar a third part, over the flack vest, like a Mae-West floatie?

Un-tucked pants legs, over hiking-style boots. May be a darker detail going around the leg where the original boots ended.

Longer hose coming off chestbox, clearly attaches at center back at waist.

I like it because it feels very familiar in it's heritage.

The vest looks like the Japanese Naval Aviator floatation jacket from WW2. This would certainly stay in character with much of the uniforms.

I think I would wait for the film to come out before seriously analyzing things.
Or have you forgotten the dreaded ANH Luke pre-production photo? Smile

totally agree David.

my guess is this is something they threw together for the vid, and not production.

To me it looks more like a Z-95 Headhunter than an X-Wing.

But I guess that's the X-Wing from Episode 7 based on Ralph McQuarrie's designs.

Here are some early ANH drawings by Joe Johnston for the X-wing and info regarding some of it's evolution.

We also saw differences with the Y-wing fighters in the Clone Wars series where the fighters had lots of extra armored "bulk" to them that had been long since stripped away by the time ANH takes place..

if you notice the new x-wing x foils are not mirrored top and bottom it's more like front half and rear half split
