Sometimes a project begins with a bargain. I found out a year ago a oddment of silver grey silk. Few weeks ago, my husband (Ste-Waz Sandoli) working on a jedi costume with a new French Base member bought an oddment of black lace.

thus, this project starts.

The first step was making a fabric pattern that fits me.

The second step was mounting the skirt and the corset.

Then a first trying on.

Your overall shape on this looks great so far!

I will say the two most common things that we require people to fix when they send in their costumes for judging is that:

1) there is no boning in the corset and it looks loose.

2) the lace is floral and not geometric.

So, that said, you will want to put some boning in your corset. You could achieve that by putting the boning directly into your corset's lining or making a muslin corset to go underneath your leather one.

As to the lace, yours definitely has flowers, but from a distance it looks much less floral. I'd have to get another judge's opinion on it before I can say whether we would let it pass or not, though.

I am inclined to say that in this particular case that I am with Jenna the farther away you get the closer it looks to the shapes we are looking for. I am working on this dress right now myself and the one thing holding me up? Its the lace! Have you tried overlaying another lace over the top just to see how it looks? I think however that you will be alright as is, but it is teetering on the floral lace end of the spectrum

Thank you for the feedback, Ladies.

Well, for the lace it is too late, I've got it... Confused
In a pic there is only 2D it is sad, but in 3D the lace is a high grade one, and on the silk, it looks wonderful.

The corset is in is very first mount and try. It is why it looks loose and in the final version, it will have no boning. It is made in genuine leather.

I will post new pics of these parts soon. But, here is a pick of the neck chocker, made in swarovski crystals and onyx pearls.

I can't find a fan geometric lace around, so I go ahead with what I've got. The whole view of my lace is geometric (Princess Liz Fezz from the blue ridge base is validated with a floral lace, Lon from Benelux Base, too ... Why can't I ?)

- I've got to redo the gauntlets (too short)
- I've got to manage finishes on the chocker
- I've got to work on the headband and the hairdress
On another hand I found so black feathers ribbons so I will do also the optionnal capelette

Thank you.

Well The work isn't go ahead as fast I'd like Sad It is going on a diplomatic rythm Laughing

- The redo of the gautlet is on going.
- The finishes on the chocker are done.

I started to work on the hairdress
here is a first try to have and idea how it fits :

And here is the first fit test of the capelette. It just needs a little adjustment (too sag on me) but looks great with a pair of jeans too Cool !

I think the next step will be a full test of the costume. And if the test matches then I will submit it to the LCJs.

Well to end it.

Afetr sending the pics to a validation.

- The Skirt was too large. We reshaped it ;
- We managed the headband closefiiting ;
- I will had more (at least 3) extra rows on the choker these mean about 300 bicons swarowski pearls !) - it will be a costume update.
- The feathers on the capelets are not the right one so the optional capelet is not validated Sad

But the costume is validated now as formal. (The costume's profile

Sure I do :

The skirt left old shape (not validated) right new shape (validated)

The headband fits closer

And also you can see the costume with its non formal capelette :
