In 2006 I tried to approve this costume. I was approved as Informal, but I think it is finally time to make a new version and get it approved as Formal.
It has seams where I attached the sleeves, a zipper in the back, hood is the wrong shape and it not lined. So it is not good enough. that is why I need a new dress.

I bought some nice fabric and I am hoping to start this weekend on the new dress. I hope I can pull a miracle and finish it in one week, because Carrie Fisher is coming to an event here next weekend. (Since I live in Europe, it is very special to have such huge names at events) I am going to get my old Boushh helmet signed but I want t photo with her wearing my classic Leia costume.

I do like the shape of my old dress. So I was hoping to use it as a pattern for my new dress.
But before I do that, I was hoping to get some feedback on the old dress. On the shape and how it fits me.

I think the shape looks ok. With the changes that you noted, I think it would be good. I'd try and make the collar a bit tighter.

This is going faster than expected. I made the two dresses and now I need to sewn them together.
One the picture is just one showed (not the lined version yet) because I wanted to check how it looks.
I am planning on doing the lining this evening. and hopefully the hood too, using Pam's tutorial (http://chucrew.com/Leia/Leia.html)

I had to adjust some of the sizing on her website because I much taller. Luckily I had my old dress and I used those measurements.

I so wish I had a proper dressform (the standard of this one broke)

This fabric you have now looks like it's a lot better weight than your last dress. It hangs a lot more nicely. I look forward to seeing the full results!

I am looking for a new Leia wig.
Since my hair is really short I need a full wig. And honestly, my skills with hair/wigs are zero....

My old wig is now 5 years old and I really need a new one. This one really looks like it is 5 years old.

Does anyone know where to buy a proper wig with pre-made buns?

I'm following the same tutorial for my dress and I used this tutorial for my buns

I am really looking for a full wig and not two buns (I have a pixie cut, two separate buns won't work)

and as I said before, wig work is not my strongest suit....honestly, I do not see myself working with a wig anytime soon.

That is really helpful!

and the Spanish Brown is a good colour?
On the photos it looks a bit light (photos are not to be trusted though), so I am thinking of maybe choosing an option which is a bit darker (basically their Dark Brown colour).
I have very dark (and huge) eyebrows and it needs to match my natural look.

Yeah, if you have darker colouring the dark brown will probably work better for you- I used that for one of my friends and it worked great for her. Since moving to California my hair has gotten several shades lighter, so Spanish brown matches my eyebrows a bit better. Smile

THANK YOU!!!! I came here today looking specifically on how to get my hands on a nice Leia wig, this is more than I could have hoped for!

I'm a bit confused about this part though, and maybe I'm just reading too much into it lol.... "you can back the bun with tulle and sew it in place"... do you mean tulle between the bun & wig itself, so you're sewing hair to tulle to wig base?

My new wig arrived. So I am hoping to visit a friend soon who can help me with the buns. I get the feeling I am going to need an extra set of hands.
