All -

We've received word back from Lucasfilm regarding our booth space proposal, so we're locked in to displaying. They said they really loved all of our ideas, but there are some key modifications that we still need to discuss with them when they're available, as LFL has nixed a few key items.

From the Proposal:

Quote:
Module One: Rebel Legion Detachments and 15th Anniversary Tables for detachment representatives, costume displays and tutorials, plus publications and history of the Legion on the occasion of their 15th anniversary.

This is a go! If you are in a detachment and want to display, you can continue with your plans. There is space for one table, a banner, and two mannequins. I will be reaching out to the DCO's shortly to give them the update.

If you have historically significant items you want to display for the anniversary exhibit, let us know.

Quote:
Module Two: The Hangar LFL X-Wing display and photo op, pilots’ ready room with costume demonstrations, interactive battle briefings and dogfight/combat evaluation, Tattoo station and patch/pin trading.

Everything here is okay to plan for except the ship.

The X-WING has been declined by LFL -they don't want to bring it- so is a NO-GO. We need to discuss with them what a suitable replacement would be, and if we are allowed to build anything after the approval deadline they set. We may be able to conscript a fan build ship or vehicle.

IF YOU HAVE A FAN-BUILT SHIP, SET OR LARGE DISPLAY ITEM YOU CAN BRING TO C7, NOW IS THE TIME TO SPEAK UP. We are checking with LFL to see if we are allowed to build something outside of the passed deadlines, and if so, we can look at options for quick and easy builds.

Quote:
Module Three: The Officer’s Club: “Common area” relaxation and interactive theater space with fan presentations, films, guest speakers, panels, celebrations, and conversation.

Our stage has been nixed by LFL, as they have decided they want to do their own. We have to discuss with them what we ARE allowed to do; workshops, "coffee klatches", meetups, etc. As far as environment goes, everything else can be the same.

IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO ENVIRONMENT SETS (MOS EISLEY, TANTIVE IV, ETC) YOU ARE WILLING TO SHOW OFF AT C7, THESE WOULD BE WELCOME. Again, now is the time to speak up so we can present them to LFL.

Thanks for all of your patience, and in advance for your assistance- we can't do this without your help, in any way you can give it; ideas, funds, time, labor or material. Thank you all for helping us make it amazing!

this is very good news!

The Rebel Alliance Infantry Detachment will make full use of the available space, and will coordinate displays as possible. We would like to showcase the full spectrum of the Original Trilogy costumes.

for RAID members, there is a ongoing discussion thread here:

Onward!

Sounds like some interesting information.

But what is the "interactive battle briefings and dogfight/combat evaluation" thing? o.O

This would be members dressed as Rebel pilots getting a "briefing" from a commander that people passing by could watch. Same thing for the evaluation (post-battle evaluation).

At San Diego Comic-Con a few years ago, Hazard Squadron ran a similar thing at the Lucasfilm Pavillion. A small group of people would enter a command center for a "tour" when a "battle" would break out and they could watch a clip on a large video screen. It was a promotion geared towards the Blu-Ray release of all the movies.

Actually we didn't run that, it was LFL's show, we were just window dressing. But, something could be duplicated if we could get a screen large enough.

Yes, technically it was LFL's gig but it wouldn't have worked if they didn't have our pilots. Smile

They were going to use Stormtroopers. Shawn convinced them of the error of their ways.

Huh, interesting.

To go along with the dogfight/combat evaluation thing, whatever that is, if anyone would like it, I could probably toss together a simple little "training simulator" game that could be run on a computer for people to play. I've been thinking of whipping up one, anyway, just for fun, using simple retro graphics with only a few colors (like the targeting computers seen in A New Hope). Though I haven't decided yet if I want to make it a side-scroller, a top-down shooter or something more of a "click on this enemy to destroy it before it hits you" kind of a thing.

We have the same layout as written and diagrammed in the proposal, just no X-Wing prop or stage. There are still 3 areas in our booth space - Detachment Display and RL History, Hanger/Briefing Room, and Officer's Lounge.

Thanks for the update, shared the need for the large scale props and environments with Endor Base - we'll see if anyone has anything.

We have an Ewok village setup we've been using here in Kessel Base with movie scale Ewoks.
