I look forward to discussing the new Star Wars Costumes book with you Phyllis! Vince was able to pick up a copy of it yesterday from our local independent bookstore yesterday. I started reading around in it. I wish there were more pictures of the RFTs, but the text about what they did for the RFTs is enlightening.

I had that book on pre-order from Amazon...
and since I am not a Prime member...I am not scheduled to get my copy till sometime this week..
I anxiously await it...
yet from the get-go I already knew that there would probably be little useable photos on the Troopers and some of the other background characters...

and..
sounds like there really is not much in there for those of us into background Rebel costumes...

bummer...

so much of the other costumes (Vader, Luke, Stormtroopers, and most of the other Imperial Troopers) were covered in the Visual Dictionaries...so its a shame that they are still not giving the rest of us anything..

There actually ARE some nice photos and text about some of the background Hoth Rebels! You will be happy about that! There seems to be a lot more about RotJ costumes! I have hardly had a chance to read a lot yet though.

Awesome!!

Any idea what time you guys will be by?

Each day we will start fairly early - around 8:30 AM....or whatever time you can come..
and go till around 2:00 PM but with other things on my schedule...I know I have to be done by 3:00 PM at the latest...

...and..

lol..
don't forget to pm me for my address...

Wink

Well, I have your address, and it looks like you are about 40 min from me, so I will aim to be there between 8:30 and 9:00 ( I am NOT an early riser, especially on the weekend!)

Also, just curious if anyone attending is good with troubleshooting sewing machines. The one I have seems to have issues (methinks bobbin tension) and I'm at a bit of a loss. i suppose I could get it tuned up, but I'm not even sure if it's worth it.

If you have the owner's manual...
that would help...
bring it along...
we can take a look at it....

from my experience with machines...generally wacko stictching is usually either the bobbin tensioner or the inital threading of the machine...

I know that I really could use a "tune up" on my machine also...
I do oil it from time to time...
and clean it...
but it has been many, many years since it has seen a good "once over" by a professional...
there is a place in Joliet I have been meaning to bring my machine into for a tune up...

Got stuck for OT this Saturday, (I just can't win) so I will make the next Saturday. I would still like to get these armored forearms assembled if I can.

copy that...

I will have all things Jedi out..

and

Crix...
you can see first hand the mold and casts of the Pilot code cylinders...
after finding out how difficult it is to cast down that skinny tube and not get bubbles in the "honey wand"...
I kinda tried something different with cutting the mold apart to make the "honey wand" in one cast and the rest in another..
suffice it to say..not stellar...
has possibilities using the cast of the honey wand on a dowel instead of casting the stick portion..
well..
but you can see what I have...how it is done...etc...

I don't know if I will have a chance to get started on anything by 11/16. I am hoping to make a new pair of pants for my HTT out of a heavier material (for wearing outdoors in the winter). If I am able to find some material for that, I will bring it and maybe be cutting it out.......

for 11/8, it looks like I will be doing this event solo, because no one else said that they could do it: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60740 11/8/2014 SAT - Library Mini Con - Lincolnshire

it is always so hard to set things up...
there is always so much going for me...not only SW stuff but my restoration and MN volunteer duties as well...

when I was trying to figure out dates for this I wanted one Saturday and one Sunday in November...
When it came to Saturday...this Saturday was the only one I had this month...

I thought wookies were known for inflicting shoulder injuries, not suffering from them.

Just got wind of this this morning. In case anyone is looking for an inexpensive starter sewing machine, Amazon has a halfway-decent one today as a Deal-of-the-Day.
