I am hesitant to call our gatherings an "armor" party...
but I am looking to see if anyone is interested in doing a rebel equivalent.

Now that winter is approaching and things (sometimes) settle down and get a little more laid back...I have been thinking about doing some sort of Rebel costume "party".

There are a lot of subjects I can demonstrate...not that I am any kind of expert...but I do have some experience in things like:

basic sewing
leatherworking
sculpting, molding and casting...
and
some of what I loosely call "fabrication".

I know that with everyone's work schedule and family schedules that getting a large group of Rebels together is near impossible...
and it goes without saying that we are flung over a VERY LARGE two State area...
.
but..
well...
we can try...

Who is interested in what?

Let's chat..

Wink

I would love to do this. I have a kit of Clone Wars Jedi forearm armor I would like to build for a Jedi General costume I am pecking away at. I have no idea how to work with this armor material so a party would help me a lot.

I could also help anyone who wants to build a lightsaber......you know, cause I have built a couple (of dozen) of them myself.

Pending availability, I'd be down. It would likely force me to take the time to get my repairs done and stop putting things off.

I know sculpting, molding and casting is something I've been wanting to try for awhile now.

Awesome....
we have interest....lol...

The gathering will be at my house...
and likely to cover 2 dates...
those who might not be able to make one...can possibly make the other..

I know it will be a problem for some as I am south of Chicago...
but it is easier than trying to find a space that is cheap to rent...you can't beat free...
plus...
should we need anything from my rather mind numbing "wharehouse" of "things"...they will be handy...

Obviously....I have done a fair amount of work in plastic Tim...
so I can assist with that...
Steve Mamman is also a expert on that....

Let's strive for November...

toss out some dates...

Awesome. I know you know your way around plastic armor. If I could leave that day with them assembled, I can paint and finish them myself later.

If anyone is interested in saber smithing, let me know. I can bring a few items to show the basics of building a saber.

i would totally be down for this. Maybe I can gain some ground on Keeli Mr. Green would love to see anything and everything. Can always learn more ways, and even better ways to do things.

OK...if it is "sooner the better"...we can try for October...
I am SUPER busy in October between restoration workdays, a trapping class and other Star Wars events...

Tim...
what is your schedule like?

I know you have a pretty horrendous schedule...

And..yes John....
it really pains me that we live so far away from each other as I would love to train with you and Nick but the logistics are just terrible...

All I have open in October is:

Sunday October 19th
and
Sunday October 26th

October is just to crowded...

Any dates of preference?

Anyone "lurking" is also welcome to join in...
this is open to not only members but potential members...

The 26th would be better for me.

I will be working a two week shutdown after I get back from Discovery World and will be living like a vampire on midnights. All of that is supposed to wrap up on the 19th so I will not be in any shape to much that day.

I for one love the idea of getting together for this purpose. I have been hoarding fabrics, expecting to one day start working on some new Jedi costume pieces, but I'm not sure where to even begin. I haven't used a sewing machine in like 15 years, so getting some tips from those who currently use them regularly would be helpful.

Unfortunately, I don't feel that there is really anything I could contribute, at least not at this point in time... Crying or Very sad

Regardless, pretty much any Sunday would be fine with me, with enough notice, of course!
