I would say off white. Khaki will be too dark. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

That's what I was thinking. Good, glad to see I'm on the right track. Hopefully I'll have time next week to make this. I've been busy with other projects, but now that I'm 22 weeks pregnant, I need to buckle down and do it for my next con and so I can troop! _________________ Rey Costume Judge

Haha! The pressure of pregnancy. A member in my base has the same issue as she can no longer fit any of her costumes. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

I wish the pattern for her silk nightgown wasn't so expensive, I'd love to do that one too! It would be nice to have to prego cosplays! But yeah, once you pop, you have no choice but to come up with new ideas lol _________________ Rey Costume Judge

I barely gained much with my daughter. Second time around, I looked like Violet Beauregarde in Willy Wonka's Chocloate Factory. I literally could not get behind the wheel of any car after 6 months.
As for your costume choice, I have always wanted to wear that particular one. It's the embroidery that stumps me. I don't know anyone who can do that for me. I'd love to know how much those metal pins are going to be sold for though. Just in case I get round three as a really older Mom. _________________ One mean, green-eyed fitch. |

lol, now I'm the opposite! This is my second, and I definitely haven't gained nearly what I gained last time!
Yes, if you are interested in the pin and buckle, PM me! Also, I believe the embroidery can also be finely painted, but I could be wrong. I had planned on painting it for now, then going back and hand embroidering it later. _________________ Rey Costume Judge

Yes, it can be painted. I can't embroider to save my life and it's too expensive for me to get it done, so I painted it on my sleeve. You can look at my profile pic for that costume to check it out! _________________ ~Katelyn

Started the bodice yesterday. I still have to go back and do the top stitching, and adjust the inverted "V" shape where the harness lies, but it's a start. I love how the buckle and brooch look on it though! Very pleased with that. After I get more thread for the top stitching today, I'll do that and tackle the collar. Should I use a circle skirt pattern for the bottom? I believe that was what I read over at Padwan's guide, but I'd love to hear what others did for that pattern. (BTW, ignore the tucking, those are the areas I might have to take in still. I have to try it on today to make sure I left room for my chest to room before the baby is due lol.)
Also, I'm about to order these boots. How do they look?

Question: Isn't there patterns for maternity clothes you could refer to? I would think a basic maternity shirt would be useful. Sometimes you can get them pretty cheap at Joanns and such. _________________ One mean, green-eyed fitch. |

I'm using a Burda Style maternity pattern for the bodice, but the bottom of it won't work as it's got pleats. :/ This is my second go with this pattern and I know the bottom just.won't work, as I tried modding it before lol _________________ Rey Costume Judge

Bummer. That was my only idea to offer, sorry.
When in doubt, and boy do I get alot of them when I sew, I buy a bedsheet from Goodwill and go to town cutting it up for a mock.
I hope someone else can offer much, much better advice. _________________ One mean, green-eyed fitch. |

I know someone who made this and I think it was a semi circle, longer in front than in back. Not quite sure though as I wasn't really involved in that.
Boots does look good. Doesn't seem to have any extra stuff on them. _________________ DXO of Royalty & Senatorial detachment

I found a simplicity maternity tunic patter that worked just great with a few alterations, although it was so long ago I'm sure its been discontinued. If I remember correctly, the skirt and an A line shape to it.
This is the pattern I used. Simplicity 5106.

Okay, I think I'm gonna try the half circle, as I have a pattern for that I can work from. Here's the bodice done with the top stitching. Thoughts on the collar? Is it a wee bit too big, or does it look okay? I honestly can't tell and would love the feedback! I'm going to be putting interfacing in it to get it to be stiffer, I am just waiting to see if it needs any alterations. For now I've just pinned it on. I'm debating on velcro or snaps to keep it in place. I'd love to be clever and do the magnets, but I'm not that savvy lol.
Thanks for all the help so far! I really want to get this done and submitted before the end of the month! It's been TOO long coming. I have had the fabric since Christmas lol. Besides, it will be great wearing it to my next con...while pregnant lol.

Added the skirt! I used a circle skirt pattern and that really seemed to work well! I just have to add the lining and hem, then I'm onto the gauntlets/gloves. I can't wait to try this on lol. Boots are on their way and I'm looking around for comfy maternity pants that are the right color, which I will modify and add the front and back seams.
