Hi! I'm new to the forum, and I have a "finished" Mustafar Padme costume. However, it's the wrong colour, and I know I need to do the seams, collar, and zipper better. I'd LOVE to get my hands on a pattern if someone has one, so I can do the seams correctly! Here are some photos of what I have currently. I'm also having my belt buckle and brooch cast in metal, and having multiples made which I will be selling later.

Any help/advice would be AWESOME!!!!

Don't forget the Naboo symbol on the upper part of your left gauntlet. It can be either embroidered or finely painted. Smile

Thanks. I hadn't forgotten. My next version will have it, I just don't have access to an embroidery machine at the moment.

To create the correct seam-lines. Take your patter you used and draw them in where they should be. Cut on your line, add seam allowance and then sew it together. I'd suggest trying it on a cheap fabric first to get the fit correct before you make it out of your final fabric.

You look great!!
What Beth recommended is exactly what I did only i don't even think i cut mine.I think i just sewed it in onto itself and then sewed the two seams on the outside edge.

For the naboo symbol I hand embroidered it myself I first drew on my piece with a marker then i just sewed over it using thread for furniture (was thicker so it took less time/thread.

So my dad, who works in cast metal, cast both my buckle and brooch for me. I LOVE the result! He will also be making more, which I will be selling in my Etsy Shop if it meets standards. Here is a photo of the buckle. He is still working on a way to attach the pin to the brooch that would make the fastening invisible. The second photo is of the back of the buckle. Both straps slide criss-cross through it.

That brooch looks fantastic! I know some other women who would love to have a metal one too.

Thanks!!!! Yeah, my dad rocks! He can cast anything, so if there are other pieces people are interested, I can work with him to re-create them!

I'm really hoping to save up for the fabric for remaking this outfit soon! I have an old cosplay for sale right now that would cover costs for both it, and ANH Leia. (I also have a dress I have my eye on at Cosplay Sky, but not Star Wars related lol.)

I relooked at my pattern that I used this morning, and I see where I can make improvements to correct it.

Any recommendations on the fabric I should use? I have both a Jo Anne's and a Hancock in town that are very well stocked.

I also decided that I am going to paint the Naboo symbol on the sleeve. I recently bought these great textile paints to make shirts to sell in my Esty Store, and I think it will work nicely if I create a stencil of it first, the paint it.

I used moleskin for my dress, and I really like the feel of it - plus it's fairly cheap Smile You can see my dress in my profile, if you like Very Happy

This is absolutely stunning!

I used an Ultrasuede was only 4$ a yard in the fabric district. I had a much harder time drafting a pattern than finding the material. Lucky the material is rather easy to locate on this costume

I sewed my broach directly to my costume. You could always do that? It'll hold nicely!

One thing I find is for broaches is to attach 2 pins instead of one. The clip won't move around.

Would a "hat pin" idea work? two metal loops attached to the back of the brooch, then a pin inserted with a cap on the end? That's what my dad was thinking.

I'll look fore moleskin and ultrasuade and compare prices lol. I'm on a budget. I'm using Burda Style 6958 for my pattern base, which I will alter

How did you guys do your collars? Snaps? I know that the original used magnets, but I have no patients trying to figure our how to do that.

Any lining recommendations?

I intended to use snaps on mine, but in a time crunch used safety pins and have never gone back and fixed it. Any method you choose should be fine as we should not be able to see it.

Hatpin, safety pin, real snaps, sew it on. All will work great! I myself do not know how they did it (I would love to know just for kicks though)

Okay ladies, the pants, cream, khaki, or off white?

I'm looking at these in grey: http://www.walmart.com/ip/FAST-TRACK-planet-motherhood-maternity-full-panel-woven-pants-with-button-front-curved-pockets/33687867
