Hi all.
First I want to introduce myself.
I work at Disney in Sweden as an Art Director.
Slowly I'm gathering all elements needed for my Qui-Gon Jinn costume.
Lightsaber is bought. One Replica with crystal Focus sound etc. Love it!
Boots are made by JDOS and should be done soonish.
Belt is soon to be made and frankly the "only" elements missing is the tunic, inner tunic, tabbards, robe and belt pouches.
When all is gathered I will apply to join the Rebel Legion.
My question is... I will try to sew the cloth parts myself. But if I fail misserably with the test sheets I have bought, I'd rather look up the possibility of somone making it for me. Would any of you know of any tailor to do the dress and how much it might cost? I would buy the cloth pieces myself. Just interested if there see any known tailor out there.
Thanks in advance!
Looking forward to get the dress done and join you guys! |

Hello and welcome!
Always nice to see a new face - and very exciting with a soon-to-be Qui-Gon Jinn. Fantastic character choice
I know JDOS is known for making great stuff, so you're in for a good start.
As for buying the cloth parts, I know there are a few dealers out there, but truth be told - I always forget what's good and what's not I'll try point "Anakin Skywalker" here - she's our temple master and sort of a jedi expert.
Also, you might want to consider joining us at:
http://nordicgarrison.net/forum/index.php also. This is a forum we share with our sister garrison, so you're very welcome to drop by _________________

Hello sir!
And a very warm welcome to you! I see you have done research on you vendors for saber and boots ( that is one badass saber you have got there, any chance for pic coming up ? )
Qui-Gons tunic was made from raw silk or silk noil as it is also called, if you're not affraid of making it yourself Roger Allen has a great tutorial on how to make a jedi tunic with as close to screen accurate patterns as there is out there ( http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29112 ) just remember to extend the tabbards in the back as well
If you're not scare of by the price and wait then I suggest Clothearscostumes.com they have already made one before and they are topnotch they use the correct kind of fabric and dye it to match the color in the movie. if you don't need them to make pants, then I suggest you bye a pair on dark brown dickies work pants Model 874.
I hope it helps and if you're need anymore help just let us know _________________

Thanks a million for the tips and links. I have checked out Sitharogs tutorials on making the cloth parts. And yes... It absolutely needs to be raw silk for Qui-Gon Jinns tunic. I am a bit more unsure about the robe. But wool should be good. The color is of outmost importance as I see it. I have been arround checking in stores and taking samples with different wool, even Kashmir wool, wich is very expensive, but could be good for two things. It's color and the nice flow of the fabric.
Next week I will get jedi training with proffessionals. It's a director for Theater and movie who will train a group of people how to move, stand, fight and talk. This is very important part as well, so that children will get the right feeling of the Star Wars World when being out there as the jedi character.
I will definately check out the forum at the other link.
Thanks for that!
Again, thank you for your tips and links and info!
It's greatly appriciated! |

That sound awesome! As for robes many use a Wool crepe(my Anakin robe is crepe) it's not so fluffy and is as may different textures. It is also thin, so it's not so stiff as some wool fabrics (at least in Denmark) but it still as the wool properties(water repellent and such)
I see you have been asking about Qui-Gon buckle too, clothears as them for sale if you still need it _________________

I have found a guy making the belt for me. He will do the buckle as well. the only thing he won't do is the pouches. So I am still looking for that. |

That is excellent!
Leather pouches that are working would be the best.
I will definately look into that.
Thanks! |

Working pouches are definitely recommended. It's frustrating to have a costume where you can't hide your phone, or keys or other small valuable items. |

Yes. I absolutely agree!
But just for the feeling to have acctual working pouches.
Also if I get all other elements like the breather, communication and such that Qui-Gon Jinn has in his pouches.
It's not on my prio list to get those things. But I am sure I will make or buy them later on.
The prices for the pouches seems fair.
I mean... they are leather... and WORKING!
Just waiting for my sallery and I will be all over the poches. |

More jedi and more TPM costumes. I approve.
Welcome and good luck with your costume. _________________
