Just a reminder to those making masked costumes such as Bith or Kel Dor that the seam/opening up the back up the mask is not permitted to be seen. This is a requirement under the costume standards.

I know some folks have made shirt collars higher. So we can help folks out, what methods have you guys used to hide the opening?

A bit of gaffers tape on the inside keeps the seam from popping open.

That, and not having the collar too tight. It should be a loose and natural fit, otherwise it will squeeze on the neck causing the seam to flex/pop open.

Did you have to make adjustments to the collar?

I want to wear it once before making any permanent changes/upgrades, just in case the mask settles or shifts into a more natural spot. Also to see what the jacket does after wearing it and moving my arms around.

I'm confident the back neck seam will behave, but yes, I am planning to modify the collar. I took the sleeves up almost four inches, so I have matching material to use. The front of the collar is right up against the chin, so I'll use a hip-curve (Fashion Ruler) to grade the collar up till it's another inch taller in the back. About 2.5" total. This will give me some peace of mind that the seam will be more obscured from a child's viewpoint. Wink

I'll take some pics when we do that.
