This is a really fantastic build thank you for documenting it so thoroughly! I am just getting started on my Obi and I anticipate this being incredibly helpful in that process.

Out of curiosity would you happen to have a link to this fabric? I am really liking it.

Morning all,

This is only going to be a short entry as there isn’t too much to say about the tunic.

Tunic

It’s funny what actually inspires you to start a costume. For my Clone Wars General, it was this fabric.

I saw it about 18 months ago whilst having no ambition to do this costume, but it was so perfect both in colour and suede like texture, that I bought it.

To my eye it is a perfect match.

Unfortunately, the above didn’t photo well as far as colour goes but the shots below did. They are a better representation of its true colour. As you run your fingers across its surface, you leave marks in the fabric, just like suede.

The mannequin is smaller then me in the chest and larger in the waist so it doesn’t look like a good fit but it fits me very well..

The only innovative element here is the addition of some sneaky black panels.

Real life and animations are very different. You will never see Obi Wans tunic wrinkled, nor will you ever see it “flap” open at the sides. It always stays dead flush with his body and is always neat.

To try to make sure the costume always resembles the animation and not real life, I had these black panels sewn into the sides of the tunic. They keep the garment perfectly flush at all times for a very neat look. Of course when this is worn over the black under suit, you cant see that they are triangular panels, it just looks like the normal opening that, for some reason, is staying very neat. They are cut from the same black sports Lycra as the under shirt is made from and hence blend unperceivably with the under shirt itself.

Just two more entries and the WIP will be complete. Very Happy

Ah, well that's an easy one.

This I found a few years back at Joanne's as I was walking through.

Looks fantastic in person. Has tha correct appearance and texture as the series.

I'm sure if you wandered around that section of Joanne's you would find something either the same or very close.

I love this tutorial and WIP thread. Your photos and costume came out amazing. It is really appreciated that you shared all your progress with us. I am kind of bring this thread back alive, giving it a bump because of all of this amazing work here.

However,
I am interested in attempting this, that same way you did for obi-wan, but as a rebel legion informal General for my Jedi character, that and for saber guild. Issue then is it's all about impact resistance, flex and tear strength for stage combat, as well as appearance. I am going to have figure out how deal with that...
Anyhow, I don't suppose you have any templates or patterns available that you used for you armor that I may some how acquire from you? I was looking at some papercraft files of Jedi General Armor around the internet and clone trooper armor kits but I feel like your your arms and knees you made, just your whole Jedi armor, just so spot on, accurate and the best around that I have found. Honestly, I would be honored for any help you would willing to offer though.

Also, I want to throw out here I would also be interested in a comm run.
Thank you again for your sharing your amazing work.

"generic" jedi generals are limited to only forearm armor & hand plates.
shoulder/chest and bicep armor are reserved for face characters only.

Hi Dune.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm happy to help wherever I can.

As Cobalt-60 correctly advises however, only the forearm armour and hand plates are allowed for non face characters.

For these I would recommend Kevin Weir of Imperial surplus. He does accurate
Armour for both forearms and hand plates.

They would work well for a Generic General.
