Well fellows,
as mentioned in O.D.s thread, it hit me and I have a new project...an A-Wing pilot...sadly I can't find my camera cable to copy the pictures to my computer, so for the time being its just words I can present you...I'll add pictures as soon as I find the bloody cable...

So far I have acquired the following bits and bobs...
- fabric for vest, gaitors, bottle and tubing (vest wise I'll go for a charcoal colour as per the crl, and for the shirt like vest)
- material for belt and harness
- polystyrene for the chest box
- an-h-15 ... I got lucky cause I got mine from a good friend who is collecting stuff like that...it is not exactly in prime condition, but it'll do...
- as for the gloves and boots I can use what I already have for my x-wing or tie pilot costume...
- I have not decided if I'll make a new com pad for this one, if not I'll use my x-wing one...
- for the coverall i'm in contact with o.d. ...
- I ordered one of Frank's buckets and I do look forward to its arrival...

...missing bits so far gaitor clips, pager thingy for the belt...coverall...

As mentioned, I will post pics asap,

Cheers,
Michael

By your Command Mr. Green

...due to the fact that i have a lot of stuff to do on the house there is no real progress so far...but i made some pictures...

so here we go...

i received franks helmet kit a couple of days ago and found some time to do a rough pre cut of the parts...i´m still thinking about how i can put the parts together as strong but as light weight as possible...what you can see on the lower left is some padding for working trousers i´m planning to put inside the curved overhead bit... for look and for comfort...i used that stuff on my x-winghelmet and i quite like the look of it

strapping, clips and velcro...i missed out the silver slides on this one, but you can see them on one of the other pics

it so far doesnt look like it, but what you see is my chestbox with the first three knobs...this might change in the next couple of days cause i´m planning to start with it today... Wink

my an-h-15...i got this one from a good friend it was the last one in his fathers antiques shop and it was exactly my size...lucky me Mr. Green

all my so far found bits and bobs ready for building including the farbics for gaiters, vest, bottle and tubing...

more progress shortly and thanks for watching Wink

Edit...

Chestbox in progress...

Riiight, i´m making some progress on the chest box...

i´m trying to work as close to this picture...unfortuneately it is to small to be accepted by my online album, so here is the link...
http://www.skaught.com/starwars/gallery/categories/Reference_Images/AWing_Pilot/media/a-wing_compare.jpg

and here is my interpretation of what i can see on the picture...the corpus is made of 1,5mm polystyrene sheets, so is the centre square and all the white bits and bobs on it...the three black knobs on the top section of the box are leftovers from an old light system, the lower (flat) gray bits are clip on screw head covers and the two gray bits in the centre of the box are endbits of old mitsubishi uniball pens...the 4x4mm ribs are just about to be cut and fixed...

...more pictures to come when i start colouring it up Wink and please Do feel free to comment...taaaa

Nice approach to the chest box. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished version. Awing

Well Fellows, i do have to apologise, but it really took me a month to carry on...i really thought that sewing and crafting would be possible besides renovating at home...lets say i was wrong...but i finally found sone time...

the first thing i did was making some patterns for gaiters and vest from some roof foil leftovers...i traced it to the fabric and started sewing the gaiters...

...i added the clips (you can see that on a later picture)...

gaiters done Wink

next step, vest...same procedure as before, i traced the pattern to the wool fabric, tried it on several times, adjusted the pattern and started sewing...

...after that i added the shoulder connectors for the chest box...

...i have to say that i always hated to sew the ribbed parts of my X-Wing vest...fortuneately there were just three to add on this one...i dont have pictures any of the sewing in progress, so the only thing i can show you is the finshed vest...

...i will stain somehow grey/whiteish later on...maybe Wink

vest done

so here are my pictures of my so far prepared or done bits and bobs...

as you can see i prepped the the ejection harness as well, but it turned out to be quite heavy because of the metal slides...so i think i will connect it to the jump suit and not to the vest to prevent warping and wrinkling on it...

i hope to find some time to carry on next week...

thanks for watching Wink
