Found these set of three pairs at Target for $5. I'm planning to modify them with Sculpey claws. What do you think?

They should work just fine! And the best thing is if you can't it to work out with Sculpey you will still have a pair of loops to wear. _________________ Little Geek loves her Big and Baby Geek! |

I decided to settle for the medium pair, but I had to cut part of it to make it work. I created the claws of Sculpey, but because I live in a tiny studio without a full size kitchen, I don't have an oven to bake. I put the claws on the sun (I live in Phoenix, so hot), but they weren't fully dry so they broke.
I read that boiling Sculpey and then letting it dry under the sun works wonders, so I'll try that sometime soon. Then I'll sand the hardened Sculpey parts, glue them and paint them.
Pictures of the WIP coming soon. |

UPDATE:
Molding the Sculpey was more complicated than I thought. The claws came out a little on the big side, but I can always sand them to make them smaller.
I embedded an earring back on two of the earrings so I can attach to the piercing post and made a hole on the remaining two to glue the hoop that I already cut.
Boiled the Sculpey claws and let it dry under the scorching Phoenix sun.
Finally put everything together. The claws came out a little bigger than I anticipated, but I sanded them and can always sand more before painting.
Feedback and advice on what gold paint to use will be appreciated. |
