As I plan to make this gown sometime in the future I wanted to ask if this fabric would be acceptable for the inner robe, while being dyed to red purple color:

This is one of the costumes on my to do list, I've been fabric hunting for the last few years and have not been able to find anything close.

Standards call for a "big concentric circular peony-like textured fabric with a moderate sheen"

I like the texture of that fabric, but not sure if it's circular enough.

Anyone else?

I'd be tempted to say "close enough," but what is the size on that pattern? Could you take a picture of it with your hand in it or something like that for size reference?

Will try to make another photo in the shop with some size comparison. And yes I've been trying to find something more accurate for some time now and this looked the closest I ever saw in shops here.

Thanks for the opinions Smile

I'm interested in seeing another photo but like everyone else, I think it's close enough. It looks very much like the movie.

I like the look much better with a bigger view of the pattern. I would say it close enough. Great find.

I have that gown on one of my 'eventually' lists too...
...and I will use a bedspread to obtain that fabric.
To be precise, the "Chrysanthemum" bedspread by DKNY in Purple (which actually isn't really purple, but a burgundy color - they just call it "purple"). You can find some pictures of it (also in other colors) by looking at this Google image search.
It's quilted. Granted, the flowers aren't as round as on the original fabric - the petals are pointed on the DKNY Chrysanthemum - but I still think it's a rather close match; particularly because it also has the satin sheen of the original fabric.

The circles are much larger than I thought. I agree that this is a great find!

Hi,

I am in bedding field and I must say that do not use the DKNY bedspreads fabric as they costs you more. Use some other brand with a reasonable price!

Please let us know which brand of bedspreads has the same quilted flowers (or even more similar to the original fabric).

I am thinking of attempting this gown, and I am starting by searching for a suitable fabric for the middle gown (the one with a quilted flower pattern). Do you think this would be acceptable, if it was dyed the correct color? It is not a flower design, but it has the concentric circle shapes. http://www.artisticfabrics.com/images/view.aspx?productId=2544

Thanks for any suggestions!
