I have been intrigued with Baron Papanoida since seeing him in the Clone Wars - Sphere of Influence episode. After looking at his for a while now I am thinking of making a start on it but before I did I would like to get some confirmation on my plans for this build. For those who are unaware of him some info can be found here http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/N._Papanoida . This is what I have come up with so far any thoughts or directions would be welcome.

One of the first issues I have is what is the color of his costume I think it is a maroon color but it could be a dark purple.

The hat appears to be a tall cylindrical construction, slightly wider at the top, made out of a similar material to the coat, with gray fabric and gold "stick" accents.

The coat itself is quite long almost reaching his knees with epaulettes and wide cuffs. The cuffs have two pairs of white stripes around them and he wears a white aiguillette on his left shoulder. He wears a wide black belt around his waist and a brown one across his right shoulder. He also wears a caplet attached to the belt.

He wears black gloves and carries a cane, in the Clone Wars the head of this cane is shaped like the death star.

Black flared or jodhpur style pants and black knee high boots with no straps or buckles on them.

As a Paptorian he is blue skinned and has gold markings on his face.

Welcome! I think this is a great costume choice and can't wait to see it come together. Feel free to post images of any fabric color ideas you have as you go along.

Thanks for those Liz Smile I had been looking at the first movie scene and trying to use that as a color guide but that head shot of George really shows that it is much more of a purple color than I had been thinking of.

@ Jenna WOW those pics are just GOLD thanks a lot for finding those woo hoo I'm sure I'll be using them a lot. And I have ordered that action figure for myself as well.

Awesome link Jenna!! The exhibit photos are probably some of the best references out there Smile

Here's a behind the scenes pic I found..I also discovered that Papanoida was played by George Lucas himself!! Smile

Thanks Liz,the more pictures I find of this character the more interested I am in making it. I did know that George Lucas played the Baron ( his only appearance in any of the Star Wars films ) and his daughter played Chi Eekway in the movies as well.

The only anomaly I have found between the movie version and the Clone Wars one is that in the movie he wears an aiguillette with two tassels and in the Clone wars it only has one.

I made a Baron Papanoida for my son two years ago; including the Death Star cane (which the Papanoida action figure has). Never mind the shoes and pants; hey, it's a kid:
