Attached are pics of my newest Ben Kenobi costume. This one is made from as accurate a material as you can find today. The Inner tunic, tabard, and obi sash are made from raw silk with the thick weave pattern and "nubbies". The robe is made from WWII Army blankets dyed a darker brown .

First the inner tunic. The first pic is the entire tunic laid out. Excuse the color - it was taken under incandescent lights without flash.

The following pics are a better reflection of the actual color of the material. Next the sleeve area - note there are no seams around the shoulder area.

Next is a close look at the weave pattern around the collar area.

Now a shot of the front showing the hem at the waist allowing for gathers on the bottom half to make it fuller in appearance.

Finally a pic of the lower seams.

Now for the Robe

The front

Some hood detail

Side view of hood and shoulder seams.

Left side view laid out.

Back of the robe laid out.

And finally - one with the force.

You will notice some variations in the color of the material in the robe pics. This was due to the dyeing process. I separately dyed each blanket before turning it over to the seamstress. When viewing the robe in real life these color variations are almost undetectable but I do plan on doing one more dye bath with the assembled robe to even out the color. The pictures actually enhance the differences more than they actually are visible. - plus it almost gives it an aged look before I even do any weathering.

I want to extend a special thanks to Jennifer Lushbaugh a long time Star Wars fan and seamstress for her hard work and putting up with my detail instructions on how to put this costume together.

I will be taking more pics of me actually wearing the new costume in a few days. Stay tuned.

Here are some pics of me actually wearing the new costume:

And some pics from Space City Con:

Now where did those pesky Droids get off to???

As you can see I don't have any patches on the tunic yet nor have I aged the costume. What with the limited availability of raw silk with this specific weave pattern I am understandably nervous to start cutting it and putting on patches. I will be experimenting with scraps of the material until I am comfortable I can achieve a satisfactory effect.

In this case, to paraphrase Yoda - "Try until ready to do will you."

Thank you so much for all the kind comments. I'm hoping I can qualify to attend Star Wars Weekends at Disney World this year. Not sure if I can since I think this costume falls under the category of a "face" character. Maybe they could let me get by as a generic old guy Jedi. Going to give it a try - the worse they can do is say no.
